Biology Tutor Tweed Heads, NSW
The most relevant things when it comes to tutoring are being able to connect with the student in a way that they feel motivated and find the help they need in order to learn. I believe students should have access to meaningful learning. I get along very well with children and teenagers and always find the way to motivate and encourage them to…

Inside CudgenTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Willow worked through adding, subtracting, and simplifying fractions as well as converting between improper fractions and mixed numbers.

For Year 9, Jeremy focused on Pythagoras' Theorem and measurement problems involving area and volume of prisms in preparation for an upcoming exam.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Mia practiced constructing scatterplots and interpreting data relationships—distinguishing between types of correlation and identifying dependent versus independent variables using real-life examples.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 maths, one student entered the session unsure how to start complex exam questions, saying they had "prepared for the basics" but weren't ready for in-depth problems. This meant time was spent reviewing simple material rather than tackling challenging tasks.

In Year 9 algebra, another avoided showing working, which led to repeated sign errors—he skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors.

Meanwhile, a primary student forgot to bring paper and couldn't complete area calculations as planned; this stalled progress on new concepts and required rescheduling content for the next lesson.

Recent Achievements

One Cudgen tutor noticed Jeremy, a high school student, now reliably checks his work for errors and can independently solve algebra and trigonometry problems—he used to need frequent reminders but now only asks for help with tougher questions.

In another recent session, Willow has started catching her own mistakes when working with fractions and can now convert them without prompting; previously, she would wait for guidance before correcting errors.

Meanwhile, in Year 6, Bella surprised her tutor by requesting extra homework and re-reading her writing to spot grammar issues—something she hadn't done unprompted before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Renee and Ava have hit it off and they are already achieving results , we couldn't be happy with Renee, she is polite, adaptable, easy to get along with and relates really well with Ava.

Norina has been fantastic. Emma and Norina have hit it off and have started to build a great rapport.

Steven has seen great benefit from the tutoring he has received from Robert these past months. His grades and his confidence in Maths has improved tremendously. Thank you so very much for the wonderful service you have provided. Robert is fantastic and Steven worked really well with him and actually would look forward to his Tuesday lessons!
