I consider being empathetic and adaptive for students is highly important. Being empathetic of your students struggles and not putting them down for not understanding is the most important thing a tutor can do for them to ensure they feel comfortable and confident in their learning. Adaptability is also a key component for a tutor as not every…

Provide a safe space for the student to make mistakes without judgement. They don’t always have this at school with their peers looking on. Provide high level materials that don’t just duplicate those from school or in generic books. I really think about the resources we use to make sure they are the right level, challenging and have stretch…

I think a good tutor needs to first and foremost be able to understand the level of their student in order to help them improve. I also think that being able to re-explain mathematical theories and concepts in alternative ways is essential in helping students to fully comprehend the subject. I feel patience is key, but a good tutor also needs to…

The most important things a tutor can do for their student is make themselves alaways available to help their student, whether it is a full lesson or just a quick question over the phone, just being a constant support to the student is of such high value. Change their relationship with studies. Education should never feel like a chore. It can be fun and invigorating. Knowing more about the world you live in and how things around us work and exist is stimulating for the mind and soul. Helping students build confidence is arguably the most important and beneficial thing a tutor can do. I firmly believe that confidence is the building block of success, and that, by bringing it out of a student, a tutor can unlock the student's full potential, and empower them to expand their skills and capabilities. Volunteering as an instructor…

According to me the most important thing for the tutor is to understand that not all students understand concepts the same way and sense when students do not understand something and willingly try another approach of presenting the material to help the student. With this approach a tutor can make a difference in the student’s learning. I believe…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to encourage them to be self-sufficient - I'm a firm believer that anybody can study by themselves, and that tutors are there to help the student bounce ideas off and help break down hard to digest pieces of education. Tutors can be a crucial part of a student's academic success. The most crucial things a tutor may accomplish for a student are: Provide moral support and direction: A tutor should be a source of inspiration for the student, offering them a sympathetic ear, encouraging feedback, and mentorship when it comes to their academic work. As I've stated before, I have a love of learning. This has not only allowed me to excel in my studies but has also filled my life with joy and wonder at the many things there are to learn and understand. This was given to me by my teachers and parents, and I think this is the best gift a teacher of any kind can give to a student. I have a solid…

We are very happy with Amanat. My son enjoys his sessions with him and that is a huge indicator for me as a parent. Amanat is so lovely and approachable with any questions I have and I like his commitment to my sons learning even though he is busy himself, nothing is ever an issue. I would recommend your business to other people and especially Amanat.

Inside Darling PointTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Alex focused on multiplication facts for the 2 and 3 times tables and practised telling time using an analogue clock.

In Year 9, Mia worked on algebraic techniques such as proving for x and completing the square, alongside general revision of key algebra skills.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student James explored logarithms and exponentials by working through targeted practice questions to build confidence with these advanced concepts.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Chemistry, hesitation with back titration and conductivity questions meant responses lacked clarity; as one tutor observed, "she was unable to phrase this concept succinctly and with clarity."

During a Year 8 algebra session, skipping the setup steps in equations led to confusion when isolating variables.

Meanwhile, a Year 2 student's heavy reliance on finger counting for addition delayed her progress with numbers above ten.

In a Year 6 writing task, strong ideas were held back by incomplete inclusion of research—answers existed verbally but weren't written down. Each moment reflected the struggle to transfer thought into clear, independent written work.

Recent Achievements

One Darling Point tutor noticed a high school student who had struggled with pH calculations now tackling multi-step chemistry problems and clearly explaining her approach, something she was hesitant to do before.

Another secondary student who used to rush through subtraction has started pausing to check her work and even created her own step-by-step method for column subtraction, showing real ownership of the process.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 student who previously relied heavily on finger counting has begun adding numbers mentally up to 20 and recently completed a full worksheet without needing physical aids.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

My experience with ezymaths was one like a rollercoaster that ended on a high note. What's special about ezymaths is that you will find support and there will be teaching material and teaching strategies available if you get stuck. Overall, as a tutor, you will learn a lot more than you will expect.

For establishing tutors, Ezy Math provides a solid support base to springboard them into the market. Not only does it take out the stress of sourcing and securing clients, but the CEP modules ensure the constant engagement of the learning styles of the tutor, and make it clear that all manner of support is available for those who need it. This programme really sets Ezy Math apart from other services, and allows tutors to blossom into confident, experienced mentors. The in-home service really does provide a unique experience for clients, which they truly appreciate. It also helps to make a clear distinction in students' minds between the lessons offered at school, to the very different style of education tutors have to produce. For all prospective tutors, Ezy Math is a great way to grow comfortable within the industry. Through the guidance of Ezy Math it has been a joy to watch students develop a real confidence because of my tutelage.

I just wanted to express my thanks to you and my son's tutor Sam. With his assistance Grady improved his maths results from virtually failing the subject to achieving a very respectable B + for his end of year  11 final grade. Sam was personable and patient, encouraging and motivating. Even though my son has decided not to continue studying maths in year  12 , I am delighted with the results he was able to achieve ,and the confidence and self- belief he attained. Please pass these comments on to Sam. Again, thank you so much.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Double Bay Central Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Double Bay Public School.
