What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy helping others learn as witnessing students' progress over time and feeling as though I've made a positive impact on someone's education is very rewarding. I informally tutored my classmate who's first language was not english, so getting to know her personally and understanding her unique learning style and needs was not only beneficial for her educational growth, but also my personal growth. Explaining phrases and concepts that I normally wouldn't think twice about improved my communication and interpersonal skills.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
As a tutor, I believe my strengths lie in my
communicational, motivational and organisational skills. I think communication is an essential strength to have, as it enables me to adapt my communication style to suit the learning needs of my students. As captain of my soccer team, I've refined my motivational skills to keep my teammates engaged, focused and confident in their ability with positive affirmations. As someone who completed the HSC, my organisational skills have improved drastically. Juggling schedules, materials and lesson plans is an ability I've refined and pride myself on.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I consider being empathetic and adaptive for students is highly important. Being empathetic of your students struggles and not putting them down for not understanding is the most important thing a tutor can do for them to ensure they feel comfortable and confident in their learning. Adaptability is also a key component for a tutor as not every student is the same, they all learn in different ways, therefore a tutor should be able to cater to individual students needs.
