Consider things from different perspectives, I think it is really important to acknowledge that not everyone learns the same, so finding different ways to explain things is essential. I am a friendly individual with a lot of…

The most important things a chemistry tutor can do for a student is not only assist them with their learning, but create a positive and encouraging environment as people work best when they believe in themselves. I also believe it is important to incorporate fun activities as people are more likely to achieve higher grades in subjects they find…

Chemistry Tutor Zillmere, QLD
The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is to listen to the student, as well as teaching. Encouraging the student to provide their input on a topic without having any pretentious predelection will allow the student to become more confident in their learning. I have the ability to gage the student's difficulty and work with them from that…

Be a supportive and likeable character so that the student can be comfortable and want to learn in the environment created I'm able to relate to the students in a way not many others seem to be able. I also offer a unique insight into some topics due to some unorthodox teaching methods that were used to teach me this…

I believe the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is to make the subject matter enjoyable for students. 1. I believe my strengths would be being able to empathise with students, having a positive attitude towards learning, teaching and my subject, I have excellent communication skills and I'm patient and tolerant. 2. While I was a peer…

I think the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for their student is to be friendly, while maintaining professionalism, so that their student will not be afraid to ask for their help or to ask questions they may not have been able to ask in class. I think my strengths as a tutor include my willingness to go the extra mile, including…

Inside DeagonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Ava worked through representing data using frequency tables and histograms, as well as reviewing how to compare sets of data visually.

Year 9 student Ethan focused on ratios, rates, and percentages by solving real-life problems involving proportional reasoning and calculating discounts.

For Year 10, Chloe practiced simultaneous equations using substitution and elimination methods, then tackled straight line algebra concepts including gradient and y-intercept identification from equations.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often needed reminders to recall basic factors when simplifying ratios, leading to extra time spent on multi-step division instead of practicing efficient methods. "She'd divide by 4, then by 2, missing the quicker path," noted one tutor during ratio work.

In Year 11, another student repeatedly delayed assignment drafts, which meant there was little chance to clarify difficult sections or seek feedback before deadlines.

Meanwhile, a senior physics student did not submit a full draft for assessment; as a result, key concepts and data analysis remained incomplete when support was most needed.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Deagon noticed one Year 10 student who used to rush through maths problems is now backchecking her answers aloud, catching errors and explaining her reasoning—something she rarely attempted before.

In a recent high school session, Oscar demonstrated real initiative by identifying his own weak spots in algebra and actively applying feedback between lessons, which has led to noticeably more accurate solutions on practice exams.

Meanwhile, a younger student working on a cowshed reconstruction project figured out unknown dimensions independently for the first time, then confidently converted not-to-scale drawings into real measurements without needing hints.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for your email. Alexandra is finding tutoring with Ben to be invaluable. She has had two lessons and we have already seen a confidence boost. Ben is great and explains everything throughly.

Alycia is going along nicely and is getting on really well with Katherine. So we very pleased with the tutoring Alycia is getting.

Karina is lovely and I think she will work out just fine. Amelia is very happy with her  and they seem to be getting along fine. I hadnt realised Amelia was so far behind, and am actually glad she asked me to find help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Sandgate Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Sandgate District State High School.
