One of the most important things a teacher can do for their student is to listen. Not to listen to think of the next response but to listen to understand. I believe as a teacher listening specifically to WHAT the student is asking not HOW they are asking it is one of the most valuable and important skills I've learned to develop. When a student is…

A tutor has to be a customized teacher for every individual student. One is approached as a tutor to provide special teaching services to a child. So most importantly, presenting information and getting students to engage with content in a variety of ways should be the aim of a tutor which can not only improve their chances of understanding but…

A tutor has to help the student build and reinforce the idea that they can start running, and that the tutors are a means to enable them to run forward. The tutor does not have to become a crutch for them to continually rely upon. I assume that i like to make the student at ease with myself. The more comfortable they would be around me, the lower…

As a tutor, I believe that the most important thing to do for a student is to find a way to explain concepts until it is finally able to "click" with students. It is vital that the tutor makes classes interesting for students. It is important a tutor has knowledge about the subject and creates an environment that instills confidence in the student. Inside DerrimutTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Emma revised quadratic equations and functions, focusing on graph interpretation and problem-solving; Year 10 student Lucas tackled trigonometry by graphing sine and cosine functions, along with a review of transformations to strengthen his foundation; meanwhile, Year 3 student Zoe practiced multiplication facts and solved word problems involving money using real-life scenarios.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 Mathematics, one student was "a bit lax with her homework," leading to missed practice on application questions and slower progress in trigonometry graphing.

In a senior English session, skipping questions when unsure meant some tasks were left incomplete and unattempted until prompted.

A Year 5 learner's written work was described as "hard to follow," with untidy layout making it difficult to check for errors—especially in multi-step problems.

Meanwhile, a primary student repeatedly avoided challenging multiplication questions, returning only to familiar material and requiring frequent reminders to persist when tasks became unfamiliar or effortful.

Recent Achievements

One Derrimut tutor noted a big shift with a Year 10 student who used to quietly guess at problems but now regularly asks for help when stuck, especially during complex homework—she completed nearly all tasks this week and initiated questions on her own.

A high schooler in Year 9 has started challenging herself by choosing harder questions for practice, getting them right on recent assignments after previously sticking only to basics.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who struggled to recite times tables can now confidently recall them aloud without prompting and tackled double-digit multiplication with less support than before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Ezymath tutoring was a fantastic company to tutor for. They were extremely helpful in a number of situations and were always able to answer a question promptly. The way in which they kept on making sure I was continually trained was a success through the use of biweekly CEP. Overall, I am very happy with having tutored with Ezymath and would recommend anyone to choose them, as a tutor or a student

I decided to start tutoring with EzyMath in order to gain some teaching experience while studying education at university. The confidence and knowledge this job has given me is second to none; working one on one with students can be a challenging experience, but it is endlessly rewarding. I was most impressed with how EzyMath provided ongoing support and learning programs to their tutors, providing us with teaching tips and skills to use with our clients. My best accomplishment during my time as a tutor would have been taking my ESL student from a C- in English to an A grade. I could see how pleased she was with herself, and the sense of achievement was shared between us. I encourage all education students to take on tutoring for extra experience, as it will provide you with a head start that will boost your teaching practice. There are plenty of tutoring companies to choose from, however if you are looking for great communication, training, support and professionalism, make EzyMath your first choice.

Ezy Math Tutoring is a great way for tutors to expose themselves to a wide variety of students across different age gaps and different subjects. Tutors are given great flexibility and choice with regards to which students they would like to tutor and in what locations. Ezy Math Tutoring provided great support throughout my time with them and consistent advice. Seeing my students improve and gain confidence over time was both rewarding and satisfying. I would recommend Ezy Math Tutoring for prospective clients and tutors.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Brimbank Libraries—or at your child's school (with permission), like Derrimut Primary School.
