Year 7 student Ava focused on simplifying and adding surds, then applied her skills to multiplying surds for area calculations.
Year 9 student Liam worked through rationalising denominators with surds and using fractional indices, as well as solving linear equations and interpreting straight line graphs.
Meanwhile, a Year 5 student tackled subtraction, addition, and multiplication questions in preparation for NAPLAN numeracy, along with practising long division and timetables using school worksheets.
In Year 8 Maths, he skips over steps instead of slowly working through them, making it hard to spot where small calculation errors occur.
A Year 10 student was reminded that relying on a calculator for multiplication and division masked gaps in mental arithmetic; this showed up when classwork required speed without aids.
