Year 10 student Omar revised non-linear equations through targeted worksheet problems, then shifted to English by brainstorming essay ideas for a discursive writing task based on key scenes from the film Pleasantville.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Alex focused on surds—converting between index and surd form and simplifying expressions—as well as expanding brackets with surds and rationalising denominators.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student often overcomplicated basic operations, forgetting steps in simple algebra when moving quickly to advanced surds work—"he sometimes forgets what to do when faced with simple operations and gets caught up in doing the more advanced things."

In a Year 8 exam setting, careless mistakes crept in due to difficulty maintaining focus and managing time under pressure; answers were left unchecked, costing marks.

Meanwhile, a primary student showed eagerness but misread multi-step instructions on number tasks, sometimes answering only part of what was asked before moving on. These habits led to missed marks and unfinished revision worksheets.

Recent Achievements

One Emerton tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to get stuck simplifying surds is now confidently converting between surd and power form, and even rationalising denominators with less hesitation.

In another high school session, a student who typically relied on graphing software finished all his classwork using only manual calculations—showing new independence.

Meanwhile, Sidney in Year 3 surprised her tutor by quickly learning to count off the decade without a counting chart after struggling at first; she also spotted number patterns many peers miss. She wrapped up the lesson choosing to complete blank worksheets independently for homework.
