Since this is a 1-on-1 tutorial, the tutor must give full attention to the student. Also to find ways to make sessions enjoyable but not to the point of sacrificing the time for teaching. And again to be patient so that the student can fully understand the topics being discussed. My best quality as a tutor would be my patience. I know a lot of…

Just supporting them through questions and providing hints allowing them to figure out the problem by themselves. Because the time spent is so limited homework is essential in order to consolidate the work done in class. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be patient. Often school teachers rush content, repeating the same explanation for each student as they teach. I can understand that this may be necessary for a large class but it becomes difficult for students that need more time to understand everything or process information differently.…

There are a variety of things that makes a tutor stand out and become a real teacher. One is to let the student feel comfortable enough for them to ask questions that they might feel is a basic question. Instilling confidence in them to explore without hesitation and fear is important in the students development. This will help them face their own…

I think the most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to try to understand their problem to the best of their capability and explain it to them in a way that they will find easiest. A tutor can provide a proper guideline to a student on how to excel in his/her studies. The tutor can primarily create a timetable for a student regarding what amount of time should be spent on studies, when to have recess etc. Time management is really important in a student's life. Be there for the student when they need help, and never losing patience with them. Using a wide range of techniques to explain concepts, such as with examples, diagrams, real life applications and sometimes even a simple step by step approach can make a huge difference towards solidifying a student's understanding of a subject. Inside Endeavour HillsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Oliver practiced reading and converting between 12-hour and 24-hour time formats, as well as worked through multiplication tables and began learning about powers and square roots.

For Year 8, Jacinta explored key Legal Studies topics including the principles of justice and the hierarchy of law-making—using diagrams to clarify differences between sectors of parliament—and completed practice questions for an upcoming SAC.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Hayley revised quadratic expressions and equations, focusing on solving a range of algebraic problems from her current maths unit.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 English, one student's SAC responses relied heavily on dot points and brief notes, which made answers unclear and incomplete—"full sentences are needed for clarity," the tutor observed.

In Year 9 maths, skipping written working when solving fraction conversions meant small errors weren't caught early; "she tried to do it all in her head before writing anything down."

A Year 12 student's essay planning was rushed, leading to missing evidence and weak structure.

When asked to edit drafts, another senior student only corrected surface-level grammar issues but left deeper problems untouched. This left essays feeling unfinished during class discussions.

Recent Achievements

One Endeavour Hills tutor noticed that a Year 10 student who used to second-guess herself in maths tests is now asking clarifying questions during lessons and even requested extra practice problems, which she worked through independently—something she previously avoided.

In another session, a Year 11 student demonstrated real initiative by completing her homework ahead of schedule and began working on upcoming topics without prompting, after previously struggling to keep up.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who was once hesitant about reading aloud now volunteers to read passages during lessons and picks out tricky words with minimal support.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We have had 2 Tutoring lessons with Ishita so far and we are very happy. Ishita is a delightful and intelligent young woman and Emily and I felt comfortable the minute we met her. She is quite an effective tutor and we look forward to get continuing her tutoring of Emily. Thank you for your support.

My Granddaughter, Ava, is very comfortable & happy with her tutor, Mihika. Also, myself & Avas Mother are happy with Mihikas cheerful, pleasant manner & punctuality. I will be continuing the tutor lessons as we're very happy with Mihika & some improvement with Ava so far.

Yes - Bailey is happy with Reshmi. She's good at explaining how he should be breaking down the question in order to get the answer for the problem. As he only has less than 2 months before the HSC they've been working on a plan to get Bailey to work on and improve his maths.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Endeavour Hills Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Islamic College of Sport - South-East Campus.
