What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Tutoring has always been a part of my life, having two younger sisters and guiding them through their school mathematics up to year 10 level. My favourite part is seeing the student's progress and personal confidence increase from the tutoring. In the last few years I ran a full-year tutoring program for SACE where I tutored over multiple subjects, and seeing their results at school improve throughout the year was so rewarding, and is exactly what motivates me to enjoy tutoring more and more.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my strong academic abilities combined with my clear explanation style help me excel as a tutor. Undertaking university engineering has given me a lot of practice translating complex concepts and jargon into 'normal' English and explaining it to fellow students (or myself, in my notes!). Additionally, my 2.5+ years experience tutoring and mentoring in multiple capacities (as an Access Monash Mentor, as a private tutor, as a casual tutor for my sisters and friends, and as a John Monash Co-curricular Mentor) means I am already proficient in tutoring procedures and discipline.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important things a tutor can do for a student is encourage, empower, and explain. Encouraging students to keep going, keep practicing, and keep learning is extremely important for improvement, while empowering students to feel confident in their abilities is invaluable in helping them tackle new problems, and applying knowledge to the real world. Finally, explanation is at the core of tutoring because it is the fundamental way that tutors can transfer knowledge and skills to the student.
