I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is give them confidence as a learner, not only for the subject they are learning, but more generally. Providing tutoring techniques that match the student's learning style is also extremely important. My passion for teaching brings a level of enthusiasm to lessons that helps to create a…

I think the most important thing I can do for a student is to help them understand their own learning styles and reflect on the areas in which they need more help. Helping students become more independent and reflective learners can enhance their enjoyment of the learning process. Also, I think it's important to find ways to get a student to be…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to inspire him or her to work hard not just in the area of mathematics but also any part of life. As a tutor I am dedicated to seeing my students improve in their mathematics skills while enjoying the lessons at the same time. Aside from my solid knowledge in mathematics i believe that my…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to develop their confidence and skills to be able to problem solve independently. That requires building a students skills to not only understand the techniques which can be used but also how to most effectively apply them. This is particularly important as it enables students to become…

Tutors need to understand their student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. This information can guide their approach to teaching and ensure that they provide support. I have a good understanding of the subject I am teaching and be I'm able to convey complex information in an easy-to-understand manner. I also have excellent communication…

I believe that students come for tutoring because they have a unique way of understanding that most normal educational practices do not accommodate in schools. So as a tutor the most important thing I can do is first spend some time to understand my students better and use that knowledge to help them grasp academic concepts more easily. I am able…

Since I am a student right now, I just don't like when my teacher doesn't explain properly. This goes within me as I make sure my student understands quality over quantity in a particular class. A tutor possesses many pivotal roles in a student's journey to tertiary levels. I believe the single most crucial contribution a tutor can make is to fan the flame. If a student gives up on their own ability despite genuine interest, then their potential will be lost. A tutor has the unique capability, and responsibility, to recognise and…

Personally, I believe it would be helping them gain the confidence they need to recognize their potential and tackle challenges. A successful tutor would be able to inspire students to like their work or at least be willing to give their best. A tutor's job is to support and give students different approaches and mindsets in solving problems so…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to inspire them and gives them a goal which they should work towards, as many students do poorly in exams simply because they lack a goal or something to work towards. If they have clear goals this makes achieving good results much easier. I am patient with students especially…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient. Being a student myself I have been reluctant to ask questions due to fear of being labeled slow or dumb. It is also frustrating not being able to understand the subject as the class flies by the materials. However, during tutoring sessions, the tutor should be able to…

A tutor should be patient because throughout my 5+ years of experience, I have students with exceptionally good abilities and also students who need time to understand a specific content properly. However, I have also seen that these students who take more time in understanding something are usually the ones in achieving better results. Each student has different ideas and personalities, and tutoring for learning needs to be tailored to the student's needs. Every student has potential but needs to be identified and encouraged, and tutors need to respect and understand them. It is also important that the tutor's expertise is fully familiar and knowledgeable about…

Ezy and professional all the way! The response time was quick (after we had had poor results in our prior attempts to organize a tutor for our son) We had our first tutoring session 2 days after making contact, and the result has already started to show only a couple of weeks in. They also follow up with interesting support material to compliment the sessions and make sure you as parent have realistic understanding on how the process works.

Inside ErskinevilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Sam focused on algebra basics and graphing, then moved into trigonometry topics like similar triangles and the law of cosines, using diagrams to clarify each step.

For Year 10 student Jamie, lessons addressed linear equations and systems of linear equations, along with strategies for solving quadratic equations and interpreting graphs.

Meanwhile, Year 4 student Alex worked through algorithms for subtraction and multiplication after a pre-assessment identified current strengths and set clear math goals.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9, one student found multi-step word problems overwhelming, struggling to identify key information and break tasks into manageable parts; "she stated that she is often overwhelmed at all the information given to her."

In Year 11, missing out on reviewing ratios and rates before a test led to easy marks being lost, as noted when the student relied on their own judgment rather than systematically covering all topics.

For a Year 12 student, skipping questions on a practice exam meant they missed opportunities to apply feedback or clarify uncertainties. This sometimes left gaps unaddressed before assessment deadlines arrived.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Erskineville noticed Kiera is now independently tackling tricky algebra problems—she used to wait for help, but recently solved most on her own and even explained her thinking out loud.

Raphael, a high school student, showed real initiative by trying different problem-solving strategies his teacher suggested; he completed complex algorithms without prompting and was eager to dive into programming Flappy Bird after a demo.

Another win came when Kiera finished the entire trigonometry set perfectly this week—without needing any assistance from her tutor.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Nina was very happy with her tutor, and her marks in maths have shown good improvement. We have been happy with Ezymaths as well.

We are so happy with Sarah.  She is extremely professional and very well organised.  She is also very thorough with her lessons and her method of teaching. Chantal really enjoys the hour she has with Sarah and Chantal has already gained confidence and is enjoying maths once again due to Sarah's positive and constructive feedback. Sarah is an asset to Ezymath Tutoring.

Thank you for the follow up. Sinan is working out fine. He has connected with Matthew well. Matthew has indicated that Sinan is explaining some of the mathematical concepts better than what his teacher is explaining, which is a good start. Hopefully this will translate into a better maths grade.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Newtown Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Erskineville Public School.
