As a maths tutor, I believe it is critical for providing a space for students to not be afraid to be wrong and foster engagement. A tutor must allow students to think for themselves and provide prompts which enable more critical and deeper thinking. A tutor must be able to understand the different needs for each student and be able to provide the…

The most valuable thing a maths tutor can do is show children that learning can be easy, enjoyable, and rewarding. Tutors are positive role models to students and can be academic mentors to them which has great influence to their entire wellbeing. My greatest strength as a tutor is being able to explain content in a variety of ways. If a child…

In the first instance the tutor needs to help them understand the work at hand and equip them with the knowledge and skills that are expected in that subject. The tutor should present the subject in an interesting way to engage the student and ensure the student experiences success to maintain their motivation. Over time, the student will then…

Most importantly, a maths tutor can lead a student to realise what they are capable of. This kind of core belief change leads a student to have the self-confidence to reach their full potential, including their best learning. I am patient, understanding and compassionate. Even if a young person's lack of self-confidence results in negative…

I believe the most important thing a maths tutor can do for students is to guide and assist them to complete assignments and homework rather than completing it for them. This will not only allow them to ask questions and gain a basic understanding of how to do a task, but it will also allow them to successfully complete a similar task without…

The most important things that a maths tutor can do for a student is show them various different problem-solving methods for a given problem so that they can choose which one they are most comfortable whilst also keeping the other methods in their back pocket in case they may want to use them. This is achieved through developing a strong relationship with the student ensuring the one-on-one sessions are productive. Inside Fairview ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Alex worked through arranging fractions on a number line and explored the relationship between fractions and decimals.

In Year 10, Emma practised applying the area of a triangle formula to different problems and built confidence with function notation, also touching on physics formulas for an upcoming test.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Noah revised exponential functions and logarithms, focusing on growth and decay models using real-world scenarios.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 Maths, a student's messy working made solutions difficult to follow—"he needs to be a little cautious of the way he sets out his working," one tutor noted.

In Year 12 Biology, another student hesitated to ask clarifying questions during lessons on homeostasis, limiting deeper understanding and feedback use.

Meanwhile, in Year 7, poor time management led to incomplete assignments and stress balancing schoolwork with other activities.

A lack of confidence surfaced across several year levels: students second-guessed themselves or doubted correct steps in algebra and geometry problems, leading to hesitation rather than steady progress.

Recent Achievements

One Fairview Park tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 11 student who used to be hesitant about physics—she's now managing her study time much better and recently celebrated a strong test result that gave her an extra boost.

In Year 10, another student who was once reluctant to speak up has started asking more questions during sessions and is now checking her answers on her own, even tackling extra homework without prompting.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who previously struggled with reading aloud managed to finish an entire chapter from "The Faraway Tree" by herself this week.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We've had 2 sessions with Hyolie and I find her very knowledgeable and organised. My daughter is comfortable with her, so far so good.

Zac is progressing well and is enjoying his tutoring with Emily.  He has clicked with her and they seem to be working well together.

We really like Mark, his communication style really suits Remy, and he is able to work out what she needs very quickly. We would love to stay with him until the end of the year. They are a good match. Thank you

Maths tutoring in Fairview Park

"Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime". This pretty much sums up our maths tutoring philosophy. Year after year students are bombarded with an increasing amount of content. Most students are always in catch up mode, trying to keep up with the class, cramming in some revision time right before exams, feeling anxious and unconfident. Of course it is possible to do well this way, but it is like using a hammer to cut down a tree instead of an axe. There's a better way to succeed academically. This is where we come in. Ezy Math tutors break the cycle of inefficient learning by showing students not just WHAT to study but also HOW to study.

Your local maths tutor in Fairview Park will come to you a time that's convenient! It's all done on your own terms. The tutors all have their own ideas and approaches to tutoring but ultimately they adapt themselves to each unique situation.

We offer simple hourly rates with no other charges or fees, no nonsense just tutoring. Plus, the first lesson is a trial to ensure you're happy with the tutor. Give us a call, our consultants can review your area, answer questions and explain pricing in detail.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as City of Tea Tree Gully Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Surrey Downs Primary School.
