The most important thing a tutor can do for his student is to make sure the tutor is his friend in his time of need. The tutor and student need to have a good relationship so that the student can hesitantly ask them anything they want. The tutor has to make sure the student fully understands the concepts and test him in different ways to assess…

A tutor should read a student's mind, highlight the area of complexities and make a student believe in him/herself. A tutor should make student understand that nothing is hard and impossible there are always more than one way to attemot anything. I believe I deliver the concepts in a way that makes it much easier for students to understand. I make…

The most important things a tutor can do are ignite curiosity, build confidence, and create a safe space to grow. It’s not just about teaching contents, it’s about showing students they’re capable of more than they think. I had once tutored a student who struggled with English, but with using visuals, humor, and celebrating every small win,…

The most important thing a tutor can do is to ensure the students that they can always talk to us on any subject matter and that they can reach out if any help is needed. I believe that one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is listening attentively to them when they are having difficulty with something. Inside Fairy MeadowTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Ava worked on all types of fractions, including improper and mixed numbers, and practised multiplying and dividing them using step-by-step examples.

In Year 8, Kyra reviewed Pythagoras' theorem to find missing sides and angles in composite shapes, building confidence through targeted practice problems.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Chloe focused on linear relationships by plotting points to sketch lines and finding equations from given graphs.

Recent Challenges

Messy or incomplete working appeared repeatedly in Years 7–10 mathematics.

For example, one student's algebra work lacked clear layout, which led to confusion with negative signs and missed steps ("she should write down important equations such as the gradient equation before attempting to solve to avoid mistakes").

In Year 9, disorganised notes meant formulas were forgotten or mixed up with different shapes.

A Year 11 student struggled to approach worded problems independently—pausing until prompted—which left her feeling frustrated and less confident during tests.

At primary level, a student avoided writing out full solutions for long division, causing uncertainty when checking answers later.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Fairy Meadow noticed a big shift for one Year 10 student who had always waited for hints—last session, she tackled composite shape problems and found missing angles on her own after some initial guidance.

Another high schooler who used to make frequent errors when rearranging equations managed to correct mistakes herself mid-task and even asked for slightly harder questions toward the end.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who would get stuck on mixed numerals now confidently converts between improper fractions and mixed numbers without needing reminders—she finished her latest worksheet independently.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Corrimal District Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Good Samaritan Catholic Primary School.
