The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is to practice empathy in order to ensure the student knows they're in a safe environment where they are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. Being kind and really listening to what they say to you is also essential, as you don't want them to feel like they can't talk to you, as this will…

Personally, a chemistry tutor is someone outside of school who the student can rely on for their studies. Students show their vulnerability here so that tutor can build them to be strong at school. So a tutor can help the student be strong on their subjects and understand the subject with life. Understanding the student on what they need first and…

Listen to the student patiently. Different students have a different understanding capacity. Therefore, a chemistry tutor should be flexible to adjust to the level of the student and explain to him/her about the subject. I am an active listener and a patient one. These two go hand in hand as it is really important for me to understand the…

To give them confidence and make them feel good about themselves. There is nothing more counter-productive than making a student feel disheartened and bad about themselves, since self-doubt yields anxiety and often poor performance in exams. Establishing a basis of trust is vital for the success of the student, so that they feel in a safe space to…

The most important things for a chemistry tutor to do is to help a student strengthen their own ability to learn independantly. It is far more important that a student understands the learning process and what works best for them rather than simply memorise a single topic. I think a chemistry tutor should provide a fun, engaging and different approach to studying. A tutor should ask questions in a way a teacher hasn't got the time to do. They should always ask what the student wants and implement strategies as to how to attain these goals. But, perhaps at the forefront of responsibility, a tutor should always make…

Teach and help them learn by listening to what it is that they need help with. Each student is different so developing an individual way with each one is very important as a chemistry tutor. Local Reviews

Quality and experienced maths tutoring from Jes. This whole experience has been so personalised and streamlined and has given me such peace of mind. The first hour free was such a bonus. The phone call follow up from start to finish was great. I would not hesitate to recommend this tutoring service to anyone. My daughter was doubtful at first but there was an immediate change in her maths outlook for a great start to high school.

Inside FigtreeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Isla worked on simplifying fractions and understanding order of operations, also converting numbers to percentages.

For Year 9, Tom tackled algebraic expressions as well as survey-based questions from his worksheets.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Natalia focused on key concepts in algebra and completed final exercises with feedback to consolidate her skills.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student revising transformations in Maths skipped horizontal reflection and scaling, leading to confusion when new examples appeared—"he'll need to revisit these areas for clarity," the tutor noted.

In Year 2, one learner's sums suffered when she rushed through calculations, sometimes forgetting whether to add or subtract; homework showed improvement, but quiz settings brought back the habit.

Meanwhile, a tired Year 3 child lost focus during backwards counting, stalling progress with place value changes.

Across senior grades (Years 10–12), several students reviewed solutions only superficially before exams, leaving them unable to independently reconstruct steps under timed conditions.

Recent Achievements

A Figtree tutor recently noticed Annabelle, a Year 11 student, quickly grasped horizontal and vertical transpositions of x² graphs—something she'd hesitated with in earlier sessions.

Tyson (Year 9) made a shift from waiting for answers to recalling information himself when prompted, then applying it directly to questions without second-guessing.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 student surprised her tutor by completing all her homework with zero mistakes after previously struggling to remember carrying tens during addition; she even tackled simple subtraction independently.

In the same week, Natalia worked through algebra problems on her own for the first time after initial uncertainty.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Hi everyone. i am a former tutor at Ezy Math Tutoring. I worked as a tutor while enrolled as a student at the University of Wollongong. The selection process for entering the EzyMath Tutoring team was meticulous and involved a written exam as well as an interview. I can honestly say that the recruitment staff at EzyMath Tutoring team takes utmost care to select only the best candidates who have proven record in mathematics. EzyMath Tutoring gave me a wonderful opportunity to coach younger students not only in the subject of Mathematics but also Chemistry, Biology and Physics. The fortnightly Continuous Education Program (CEP) modules helped me become not only a better tutor but also a better student. The modules on self-belief, the different types of learning styles were interesting, intriguing and informative. EzyMath Tutoring has my highest recommendations for prospective tutors as well as prospective clients. 18th August 2012

Angelica has greatly improved her understanding  of  Maths  since her tuition and we are very grateful for that. We have been very happy with the tutoring service.

Yes she certainly got a lot out of it. Ben is s terrific, gentle teacher who was just the right person for her.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Eagle Vale Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Figtree Heights Public School.
