It is so important for tutors to adapt their method of teaching to the way the student learns. Every student not only has different needs and difficulties, but learns concepts differently. It is extremely important to regularly re-evaluate the student's objectives. Modifying your approach as a tutor to make the student feel comfortable and…

I think the most important things a tutor can do would be to be patient, and to cater for each specific student. If a tutor is unable to adapt to each student, the purpose of one-on-one tutoring is nullified. I think I am good at adapting my teaching approach depending on the specific student, and explaining things in multiple different ways…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their students is to help them build their confidence whilst they learn new concepts. In doing so, I believe it will allow them to enjoy learning, as well as allowing them to understand and apply this concept in a shortened period of time. I believe my strengths as a tutor is that I'm adaptable. Every…

I think the greatest gift a tutor can provide to a student is support. School can often be an isolating and intimidating experience, and often students, despite being remarkably talented, feel afraid to take risks and go beyond what is expected of them. A tutor can also make the learning experience far more rewarding and enjoyable. Students feel…

Helping them to develop their own learning style, or styles, to perform in a variety of circumstances is one of the most critical things a tutor can impart on a student. I believe the most important things a tutor can do is be trusted by the student and beneficially help the student with lots of positive reinforcement rather than condescendingly negatively motivating them. Within this, it is important to create a supportive environment where the student can admit they still don't understand a topic, so that the…

Patience and desire to help. I believe it is most important as a tutor to show we respect students and never act annoyed even for the most basic questions as every student learns at different pace. More important than the marks or goals - in my opinion - is the development of confidence in the students ability to connect and understand the learning process of being unable to do something, setting goals, working, and ultimately learning the skill/content. Being open to a student's feedback and insights is of high importance,…

Local Reviews

Very helpful staff. Invoicing was simple Tutor was a little insecure/shy which was not very motivating for my child. He was late on a number of occasions but very happy to stay over the 1hr to complete work.
Gillian, Frenchs Forest

Inside ForestvilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Jessica worked through pattern recognition and tackled long division using step-by-step examples.

In Year 8, Ethan focused on converting fractions to percentages and decimals, then interpreted pie graphs and charts with real-life data sets.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ava explored financial maths by calculating GST and percentage change, applying these skills to practical scenarios.

Recent Challenges

Several high school students missed assigned homework on multiple occasions, particularly in Year 9 and Year 10 mathematics—one tutor observed, "He did not complete his homework again which is unfortunate."

In a senior maths lesson, a student forgot key content from previous weeks during a test review, suggesting little revision outside of sessions.

For one Year 8 algebra session, steps were often skipped in working out equations ("attempted to do some conversion questions in his head"), leading to confusion and small errors that weren't easily traced back.

During advanced geometry with a Year 11 student, messy layout made it difficult to follow reasoning or spot where the method broke down.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Forestville noticed a Year 9 student who previously mixed up algebraic rules is now correctly applying BODMAS without prompting, making fewer calculation errors during practice.

In another session, a Year 11 student showed new independence by identifying and solving gradient questions on their own—this used to be an area where he'd hesitate or wait for hints.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner who was once unsure about times tables now answers multiplication problems with growing speed and checks her work before moving on to the next question.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for your email, we are very happy with the work Christian has performed with our daughters as are they. We consider ourselves fortunate to have such a highly skilled tutor in Christian and look forward to continuing these arrangements

Sophie has been good so far, Barnaby seems happy with her teaching method. She is a very nice, pleasant young lady, who seems to know all about maths and the curriculum.

Yes we are very happy with Nuradha.   He is extremely friendly, very reliable and my son has connected with him well. I will definitely keep you informed of our progress.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Forestville Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Forestville Public School.
