Modern History Tutor Hobartville, NSW
One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to give him or her self-confidence. I believe that this is especially important for struggling students. A tutor must encourage students and provide them with the tools required for academic success. A student should enjoy tutoring sessions whilst consistently improving during them.…

You taught my daughter how to be a good student, and those skills will serve my daughter in all other classes in the future. Thank you.

Inside Freemans ReachTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ava worked on breaking numbers into tens and ones for addition and subtraction, as well as reading longer passages to improve fluency.

For Year 9, Tom focused on financial mathematics with an emphasis on calculating interest, then reviewed simultaneous equations and inequalities from school lessons.

In Year 11, Sarah completed revision of algebraic factorisation before moving on to indices and solving linear equations using practice questions from her recent exam.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student repeatedly needed reminders to focus during English lessons, often chatting instead of working; she seemed to distract herself to avoid doing tasks, one tutor noted, which slowed progress and meant some homework was left incomplete.

In senior Business Studies (Year 12), another student struggled with organisation—relying on last-minute revision and not maintaining notes or consistent practice, leading to bottlenecks before exams and gaps in applying theory under timed conditions.

A Year 10 maths student avoided writing out full solutions for algebra problems, making it hard to catch errors and slowing their improvement with factorising.

Recent Achievements

One Freemans Reach tutor noted a Year 12 student who, after previously hesitating to tackle past HSC questions under time pressure, successfully answered multiple-choice and extended response items with much greater accuracy during their session.

A Year 10 student, who once struggled to independently solve algebraic equations, now routinely applies the distributive law without prompting and even checks his own working for errors.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student has begun reading longer texts aloud with noticeably less hesitation, breaking down tricky words into smaller sounds and self-correcting when she gets stuck.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I am delighted with Domenic's tutoring. I was concerned about how the tutoring would go because Jake struggles with a high level of anxiety but Domenic has put him at his ease.  He has engaged very well with my son, and is enthusiastic, encouraging, knowledgable and organised. He explains concepts in a way that Jake can grasp them: Jake has had at least one 'ah-ha' moment in every session. Domenic is also always punctual and polite. He has made a big difference already to Jett's confidence and performance at Maths. I look forward to having him continue to tutor Jake through his HSC.

We are certainly happy and off to a great start. Edward has been great, punctual & helpful. I am confident this  trend will continue and George's math will only improve.

We found Luke to be a knowledgeable and good tutor who worked well with Jessica. He was able to provide us with 2 tutoring sessions prior to Jessica's exam. I think more than anything he helped settle her nerves and was able to provide exam study strategies to enable her to approach the Chemistry exam in a prepared and calm manor.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Richmond Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Freemans Reach Public School.
