A tutor has to be able to cater for individual needs as all students are different and I greatly believe using my communication and teamwork skills I can create a supportive learning environment in which students can gain academically of their own skills. I believe being available to answer questions and elaborating on concepts to make understanding them easier is an important aspect of being a tutor. Also, making sure the student is putting in the work rather than simply handing them the answers ensures the student is benefitting from their tutoring sessions. I am able to successfully communicate…

Being patient in allowing students to fully grasp a topic or idea before proceeding. Often students have topics and subjects that have been neglected by the schooling system, and sometimes it is necessary to move backward before we go forward. I have been a student myself for 13 years and have an acute understanding of what assists myself and…

Tutor's should prioritise the relationship between the student and their learning. To be consistently achieving learning goals and improving their overall knowledge, students have to a hold passion and love for their work. Its their tutor's job to build a space where the individual builds an interest and passion to learn. Therefore, working step…

Local Reviews

My child was tutored by Kelsi last year and she was a absolutely amazing. Always punctual, she ensured my child throughly learnt his content. My child wasn't a big fan of maths however kelsi managed to articulate the concepts in such a way that was simple and easy to understand that my child is now not afraid of maths but loves it!
Lakshan, Glen Alpine

Inside Glen AlpineTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Ethan worked through a worksheet on linear equations and basic algebra, focusing on simplifying expressions and solving for unknowns.

In Year 9, Lilian revised Pythagoras' Theorem and practiced calculating the area and perimeter of right-angled triangles using step-by-step diagrams.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student explored calculus by applying first principles to find derivatives, followed by practice questions from school sheets to consolidate understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student often arrived without essential materials—calculator, workbook, or textbook—which meant valuable lesson time was spent tracking down resources rather than consolidating exam skills. As a tutor put it, "he didn't have his calculator for the test review, so we had to skip key questions."

In Year 8 maths, one student's tendency to miss scheduled lessons led to gaps in understanding angle properties; feedback and corrections couldn't be discussed promptly.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner's messy written work during multiplication practice made errors harder to spot and correct, slowing progress on basic numeracy.

Recent Achievements

One Glen Alpine tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to skip over unfamiliar maths questions now writes down everything he understands before asking for help, showing real initiative and willingness to tackle tough problems.

A Year 7 student who often forgot multiplication facts is now recalling factors quickly during sessions, thanks to consistent times table practice—something she struggled with at the start.

In a recent high school session, another student applied last week's arithmetic strategies independently this time around, solving new problems without needing prompts or reminders from the tutor.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are really happy with Vivienne. She is very patient and explains things extremely clearly. Already had a 74% which for a child who is almost maths dialexic this was fabulous. Anyway we are very happy with her Thankyou

Hi Erica, thank you for your email. Things have started well with Jacob and hopefully they will continue in the same way. I think in this case, the difference for Jamie is that she can ask Jacob about a problem that she is struggling with and he can answer her straight away. Vivian was able to answer her too but it took her longer and I think the time factor was what was frustrating Jamie. As I'm sure you are aware in year 12 there is such a time crunch that any delays just add more pressure.

Hi Erica Thanks for the email. Yes, everything is going very well. Daniel is finding Yuta to be very helpful and has definitely been able to identify areas of weakness that require work. We are all very pleased with the progress to date.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Campbelltown City Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Thomas Acres Public School.
