I had a tutor in high school for my VCE studies. I learned that a tutor must be a supportive figure that guides their student with compassion and patience. The demeanor of my tutor relived the stress of studying and gave me the confidence to attempt difficult problems that I would have given up on. Students at any year level will often feel…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to ask them for constant feedback/questions. Some students are hesitant to ask questions when they are confused, which can easily lead to them not understanding content. Hence, it is important as a tutor to actively make sure that your student actually understands what you are teaching. As a…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is to be able to teach a student methods of learning. It is important not just for the student to absorb the information being taught but also for the student to be able to break down problems and information. Teaching this skill to students to then carry onto into their careers and personal lives is…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make sure the student is engaged, without the full attention of the student even the simplest topics are impossible to teach. After personally attending multiple tutoring services, I've realised engagement is more important than the ease of understanding sometimes, I will strive to provide…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student isn't to just teach them the content, but instill a certain way of thinking. This way of carrying yourself can be summed up in five words: the relentless pursuit of knowledge. I wish to bring that mindset to the students I tutor so they not only make the most of their learning in the…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to try their absolute hardest to teach their student in their field. But equally important to this is to instill good habits onto their student and inspire them to try their best in their studies. Teaching effectively so that the student can understand the content. It is important to make the students do their own work, rather than doing it for them as they do not learn effectively if the tutor does the work for them. The tutor must also commit to every class and treat every student equally with respect. - My strength are maths and…

Any tutor should be able to show that they care about their students learning, and making sure the student knows that the tutor wants the best for them. Often, students may feel a lack of determination or care from their tutors or teachers which can cause a gap within the students learning. If a tutor shows that they care about the student and try…

Tutoring is very different to a typical classroom setting. Each class is unique and solely focused on the one student. This one-to-one learning experience is something many students wouldn’t normally get in a classroom. Naturally, they’ll be able to ask as many questions as they want. As a result, you’ll feel you’re making a real…

Meena V, Holsworthy

Inside HolsworthyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student Daniel worked on writing body paragraphs for a "Life is Beautiful" essay in English and practised solving bearings and obtuse angle problems in Mathematics.

In Year 11, Emily reviewed trial exam results with a focus on critical path analysis, ensuring she could break down complex project planning questions.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Maya concentrated on revision for the HSC by tackling past paper questions covering topics such as indices and key themes from Macbeth.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 English, one student's lack of engagement and repeated missed homework meant "he didn't spend enough time on his work," so gaps in understanding persisted week to week.

A Year 11 Maths student arrived without completed assignments and struggled to stay organised, often forgetting materials needed for revision—this limited class productivity.

For a younger learner (Year 5), confusing area with perimeter highlighted the need for more consistent review outside lessons.

In each case, delays or avoidance of independent practice led to extra time spent catching up, rather than moving ahead with new material.

Recent Achievements

A Holsworthy tutor noticed a big shift in Byron, who stayed focused through the entire maths section—previously, it took a while to settle him at the start of lessons.

In a recent high school session, Mason finished his assignment before time was up, showing real independence compared to earlier weeks when he needed prompting to stay on track.

Another high school student worked through minimum cut max flow questions and completed all their mathematics work without hesitation—a solid step forward after struggling with these concepts before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I decided to work  for Ezy Math Tutoring because it seemed very flexible and would fit in very well with my university schedule. At first, I was only expecting to learn a bit about being a good communicator and be able to engage people but it was a lot more than that. The real highlight for me was that no matter the ability of the child you are teaching, the minute that they start to improve and get better grades, that is THE best reward you can get. My biggest highlight was when one of my students who had just finished his HSC told me that he got a whole 20 marks higher than he was expecting at first for his Maths exam and he thanked me for my time. I recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to potential customers who want personalised help for their child and being assigned a tutor who cared as much as I did for my students to achieve their potential. As for potential tutors, this experience is so rewarding because you really do care for your students' progress and you develop skills that will help you for life.

I just wanted to let you know that Mila is very happy with her new tutor Amelia. She told me after her lesson tonight that Amelia is really helping her a lot, and that she is understanding concepts more clearly and feeling more confident in class and while doing homework.

I chose to work as a tutor with EzyMath whilst completing my university studies in order to gain valuable work experience and to also help others within mathematics which I have a strong passion for. I have only positive experiences with EzyMath Tutoring through their on-going support when starting out as a tutor, the continuous learning provided through their tutoring modules and online resources and the process they use when contacting a client. My biggest accomplishment whilst working as a tutor with EzyMath was seeing students improve immensely in there grades and also being able to assist the students with their own personal goals in regards to mathematics. Personally whilst working as a tutor I became more confident, organised, patient and developed the ability to explain complex concepts using easy-to-understand terms. EzyMath Tutoring is a fantastic organisation to work with and for students who are struggling within maths to become a part of.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Moorebank Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Christopher's Catholic Primary School.
