Physics Tutor Saratoga, NSW
I think the most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to make them feel proud and confident with themselves as well as being a supportive teacher. I know from experience that when you're struggling with a concept it is a very disheartening thing and can lead to self doubt and giving up. I think a tutor should help a student work…

Physics Tutor
The most important thing a physics tutor can do is give a student the confidence to continue to achieve and learn for themselves. If they can believe in themselves and keep working, they will succeed regardless of their level. I am personable and easy-going, able to meet the student where they need to be met. I have a genuine passion for…

Inside Horsfield BayTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Yillen worked on converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages, as well as simplifying ratios using worded problems for practice.

In Year 9, Ava focused on applying SOHCAHTOA to find unknown sides in right-angled triangles and solved Pythagoras' theorem questions from her school homework.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Zoe tackled surface area and volume of cubes along with understanding ratios through real-world examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student working on trigonometry and bearings often avoided drawing diagrams or writing out steps, especially in worded questions—"she just wanted to rearrange SOHCAHTOA mentally," a tutor noted.

This habit led to confusion when distinguishing angles of elevation from depression.

In Year 11 maths, one student misplaced his calculator and frequently arrived without essential materials, which meant "I had to calculate a few questions for him as he didn't have a calculator handy."

For an older student practicing essay writing (Year 10 English), reluctance to submit written drafts limited feedback opportunities and slowed vocabulary growth.

Recent Achievements

A Horsfield Bay tutor noticed a big shift with one Year 10 student who used to hesitate when stuck, but this week he asked directly for help with tricky homework and even requested extra questions for more challenge.

Another high schooler showed clear progress in rearranging formulas—she caught her own substitution errors before the tutor could point them out, something she struggled with previously.

In a recent Year 5 session, a student who had been confused by fractions was able to multiply two together unprompted and explained each step aloud confidently.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Yes we are happy with Kavindu. Emily seems more confident with one on one home tutoring than class tutoring. thanks

He's here now, drinking miso and walking Em through Pythagoras (poor sole). It's all good.  She appreciates this time and enjoys his learning insights so that's a winner.

Emma and I are very happy with Philip as a tutor.  All is going very well.  Phil seems very reliable and conscientious and offers appropriate support but allows Emma to work the problems herself which she appreciates.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Umina Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School.
