I think the most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to make them feel proud and confident with themselves as well as being a supportive teacher. I know from experience that when you're struggling with a concept it is a very disheartening thing and can lead to self doubt and giving up. I think a tutor should help a student work…

Tutor has to be completely sure that students understood all provided information very clear. This gives them filling of confidence, happiness, and satisfaction. I can explain the information in different simple understandable ways. When I studied Diploma in Building and Construction in TAFE, we had subject which called structure. I could explain…

The most important thing for a physics tutor to incorporate into their lessons is personalisation. Tailoring the lesson or what they are teaching to best aid the student in areas of weakness. This personalised content will resonate most with the student and also make the lessons more engaging. My strengths as a tutor are my speaking skills. I have…

The most important thing a tutor can do is give a student the confidence to continue to achieve and learn for themselves. If they can believe in themselves and keep working, they will succeed regardless of their level. I am personable and easy-going, able to meet the student where they need to be met. I have a genuine passion for mathematics and…

Inside KoolewongTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Yillen worked on simplifying fractions and decimal ratios, then moved on to perimeter and area calculations with links to Pythagoras' Theorem.

For Year 8, Amber tackled rearranging formulae to change the subject and substituting values into equations while completing homework questions.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Ethan focused on applying SOHCAHTOA for finding unknown angles in right-angled triangles and used the Pythagorean theorem to solve for missing sides, especially in preparation for an upcoming test.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student often arrived late to online lessons and, as a tutor observed, "was not focused at all," needing frequent prompts to stay engaged—this led to most answers being provided for him rather than attempted independently.

In a senior Maths session, missing a calculator meant extra time was spent on manual calculations, slowing progress in topics like Pi and decimals.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 learner left both notes and school workbook at school before an exam; without these materials, revision was improvised and less targeted.

A Year 11 student struggled with planning time during test-style drills—only two questions were completed in the hour.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Koolewong noticed a Year 11 student who, after struggling with rearranging formulas, now independently substitutes values and checks his work without prompting.

In a recent session with a Year 9 student, the tutor saw him ask for more challenging homework—something he used to avoid—demonstrating new initiative and willingness to push himself further.

Meanwhile, a primary schooler who once hesitated to speak up now openly explains how she solves each maths problem step by step.

Last week, she chose to revisit an earlier worksheet on her own and completed every question correctly.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Bre says she is happy with Ameya. He explains things well and ensures she understands things before moving on. Only week 3 but all good so far.

Hayden is starting to feel more confident with his maths, so we think 10 weeks more tutoring should cover all bases for now, and a few weeks towards the end of the school before the final exams should do wonders for his results. Thankyou.....

We are really happy with Jarryd, we realise it is going to take time and we are prepared to do that for Thomas. Thomas is really comfortable with Jarryd and this helps. Wish we had done this earlier. Thanks for the enquiry.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Woy Woy Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Point Clare Public School.
