Along with knowing the students syllabus well, I believe that having patience and the ability to stay flexible with teaching methods is the best quality in a tutor. Knowing how to adapt to the students pace and patiently responding to their questions is an effective way to keep the student motivated and excited to learn new concepts. I am very…

As a tutor, I believe the most important things a teacher could do for their students is making them feel encouraged and secured. Promoting education in today's society is something that should be dominated and put first. In my eyes, a child's education is the first step towards a child's success. Encouraging students and providing them with a…

Being active when students are in need the most, answering questions as students ask them. It is important to ensure the student feels completely fine to express themselves and ask tutors any questions they may have, during and after the lesson. A tutor should be attentive and ensure the student has no questions before progressing further. I feel…

Furthermore, a tutor can provide a student an opportunity to ask questions that have been unanswered by teachers at school and most importantly a tutor can act as a mentor for a student who…

Support. Providing a great amount of support and motivation is crucial for a student’s education path. Without this, a lack of drive would occur which is detrimental to their learning, ultimately affecting their peers around them which acts like the domino effect. I have been to multiple coaching centres since Kindergarten and I have realised…

Help him get to ease with the course, make it not feel like a burden but something the pupil has control over, allow him to see his strengths and focus on the knowledge he is gaining from it, and how he can benefit from it. A tutor should provide guidance and assistance at all costs for the student they are teaching. It is the tutors responsibility to do the best they can in order to help the student reach their potential. Local Reviews

Leon has made some extreme improvement over this Term. In the last 3 weeks he has achieved 5th and 2nd!!! in the class mathematics tests. This has improved his confidence immensely and he shows more enthusiasm in his tutoring sessions. Very happy with Jordan.

Inside HuntingwoodTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Olivia focused on revising financial maths concepts and practicing calculations with percentages and fractions.

For Year 11, Ethan worked through equilibrium expressions including Keq, Ka, Kb, and Ksp, applying these to real exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Sarah completed HSC Chemistry trial paper practice with a focus on enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs Free Energy calculations, consolidating her understanding using past exam problems.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Chemistry, one student left units out of calculations, making it harder to spot errors when revising.

For a Year 12 maths student, "working was messy and difficult to follow," which meant extra time spent untangling steps rather than progressing with new content.

A senior English student rushed written responses and overlooked tense consistency; the tutor noted, "cleaner working out is needed to avoid confusion."

Meanwhile, a Year 9 science student avoided attempting unfamiliar questions—skipping these limited exposure to challenging material and reduced confidence when facing similar tasks in assessments.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Huntingwood noticed a Year 11 student who had struggled with exam mistakes in quadratics took the initiative to correct every error from their last test and showed much stronger understanding of the content this time.

In a Year 9 session, one student who used to skip challenging questions now reattempts all those he gets wrong, asking clarifying questions instead of moving on confused.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner who was hesitant about fractions recently worked hard through an entire chapter's revision, managing to solve most problems correctly independently without needing step-by-step prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We're very happy with Kritika. Ella has taken to her easily and is really enjoying the work. I'm feeling very optimistic.

After the last session Mia said she was happy with Sam and didn't want to change to anyone else. Sam is very bright and Mia will never be an advanced Maths student but they seem to have worked out how to communicate and that just builds her confidence so she doesn't see a difficult question and get overwhelmed. Sam is also very punctual and communicates well with us as well. Even the dog likes him now.

Esme has connected with her tutor and is progressing well. We are pleased with the progress so far.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lalor Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Evans High School.
