I think the most important things an economics tutor should do for a student is to encourage the student to do better rather than to aim for perfect grades. Every improvement, regardless of the extent, is an improvement and it should be appreciated. A tutor should also prepare for the lessons before hand and have a lesson goal/outline to keep on…

Amidst the competitive pressure of institutions on this generation's children, one of the vital things an economics tutor can do for a fellow student is to provide a safe space for them to be able to express themselves, i.e allowing them to ask questions and understand the weaknesses of their students. That way they will be enthusiastic to learn…

Tutors have two roles, One is to actively support the student who might be struggling to cope up with their peers and/or looking to improve their performance. The second is to make the student learn in a different environment from their school. Schools have multiple children and every child has some issue they are facing. As an economics tutor…

Local Reviews

My son was reluctant to engage with another tutor before meeting Asher. After the first session, he now prepares himself and is keen to revise subject areas he needs assistance with. He is more confident at school and feels better prepared for exams amd assignments. Asher is very patient and has great advice, He connects well with teenagers.

Inside JoondannaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student Joshua worked on developing a PowerPoint presentation about the concept of 'purpose,' focusing on creating clear questions and in-depth analysis to support his understanding.

Year 11 student Lachlan practised planning exam responses by breaking down past composing prompts, with an emphasis on quickly identifying key elements and structuring effective answers.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Olivia explored major themes from 'All Quiet on the Western Front,' selected supporting quotes, and identified relevant language features within those excerpts for text analysis.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 English, one student struggled to select relevant quotes and connect them to key themes, often hesitating when required to expand on language features. As a tutor noted, "he found it difficult to match evidence with the question."

In Year 9, a student's film analysis was limited by describing scenes instead of using technical terms like camera angles or facial expressions—this left marks on the table during assessments.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner forgot their maths book, leading to time lost sourcing materials rather than practicing problem-solving.

These moments made it harder for each student to fully demonstrate their abilities under pressure.

Recent Achievements

A Joondanna tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 10 student who, after struggling to plan her essays, now picks out every key word in the prompt and checks that her writing addresses each part—something she hesitated with before.

Another high schooler recently became much more comfortable choosing relevant quotes for analysis; he started weaving them smoothly into his sentences instead of making his writing sound choppy.

In Year 5 maths, Mae has begun opening up about her progress and now responds well to homework, even sharing how she feels about tackling new problems.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Everything going well at the moment, no issues and Michael is an extremely patient and competent tutor. Alex is enjoying the sessions and appears to be moving forward.

So far so good with Amelia - she has always been punctual, professional and friendly and Mila feels comfortable with her.

I decided to work  for Ezy Math Tutoring because it seemed very flexible and would fit in very well with my university schedule. At first, I was only expecting to learn a bit about being a good communicator and be able to engage people but it was a lot more than that. The real highlight for me was that no matter the ability of the child you are teaching, the minute that they start to improve and get better grades, that is THE best reward you can get. My biggest highlight was when one of my students who had just finished his HSC told me that he got a whole 20 marks higher than he was expecting at first for his Maths exam and he thanked me for my time. I recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to potential customers who want personalised help for their child and being assigned a tutor who cared as much as I did for my students to achieve their potential. As for potential tutors, this experience is so rewarding because you really do care for your students' progress and you develop skills that will help you for life.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Osborne Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Denis School.
