Science Tutor Mount Tarampa, QLD
As above, affirming their limitations JUST AS MUCH as their strengths - affirm, affirm, affirm! I believe the most fundamental truth is found in admitting and celebrating weakness. I would prioritise my strengths as: - enthusiasm - pedantic attention to detail - strong synthesising skills and understanding across a wide range of…

Inside KentvilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Cale worked on index laws, surd laws, and the foundations of algebra through problem-solving tasks.

In Year 10, Emily focused on solving simultaneous equations and revising compound interest as well as surface area and volume of spheres, including using a revision booklet for practice.

For Year 11, Lachlan reviewed exponential growth and relationships, practiced content retention techniques, and was introduced to logarithms with base 2 during targeted exercises.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student struggled to keep his maths assignment safe due to computer issues, which "very badly affected his grade"—this highlighted a need for better file management and digital organization.

In Year 12 English, losing focus mid-speech draft meant ideas wandered off-topic, making the argument less clear.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student's maths revision revealed that "when there is no math in a math class that should be summarized for that day," her note-taking was incomplete, leaving gaps in recall.

Fatigue after long school days further reduced focus and accuracy during algebra sessions, leading to slower progress on key concepts.

Recent Achievements

A Kentville tutor recently noticed a high school student, previously hesitant to show his calculations, now regularly sets out full working on paper during sessions and even volunteered extra practice before his upcoming exam.

Another high school learner, who used to avoid asking for help when stuck or behind in classwork, has started bringing tricky questions from school straight to tutoring without prompting—showing new openness about tackling challenges head-on.

Meanwhile, a primary student made real progress by quickly picking up how to add decimals independently after struggling with similar tasks earlier and asked for more examples at the end of the lesson.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

So far, we are very happy with Hamza and the work he is doing with Asha. He is always prompt, organised and has a very gentle and patient manner of teaching which Asha appreciates.

We have been very pleased with the approach Darrell has used with our daughter. He has been very personable and works at developing a relationship with our daughter while teaching her. She has responded well and feels more confident with her maths skills. She received positive feedback from her teacher after only two sessions with Darrell and she is confidently waiting for the results of her test. Darrell has always been polite, on time and communicates well with us. We appreciate his support.

Joseph is a legend.  The feedback from Max has been great, and what he is doing is excellent.   I am really impressed with his work and the effect it seems to be having. Thanks!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library or at your child's school (with permission), like Kentville State School.
