Science Tutor Gawler East, SA
The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to listen to their concerns and also find the gaps in knowledge they have to be able to work with them and focus on helping to learn what they are struggling with to help them through their education. The strengths I have as a tutor are that if I do not know the answer to something, I would…

Science Tutor Hewett, SA
The most important thing is for a tutor to help a student understand the concepts, rather than giving them answers, to help them towards understanding the work independently. I consider myself to be patient with my students as they learn at their own speeds, while providing them with the path to find the answer…

Breeanna got along well with Alicia and quite liked her approach to math. She has identified some areas that need a bit of work, so far we are pleased with everything

Inside KingsfordTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Alyssa focused on solving worded questions involving perimeter and area, and also practised simplifying and comparing fractions as part of her Maths Pathways modules.

Elysia, studying at TAFE level (Years 10–11), strengthened her skills in long division and BODMAS using step-by-step worked examples, then applied these to converting fractions to decimals.

Meanwhile, Year 4 student Jai used Lego arrays to practise skip counting and began working with fractions through real-life scenarios like cooking measurements.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 TAFE Maths, Elysia often struggled to retain new processes after long gaps between lessons; for example, "with a month's gap, she had forgotten parts of converting fractions to decimals and needed a full hour to review."

In contrast, Alyssa (Year 9) made strong gains in accuracy by showing all working out and backchecking, but sometimes omitted written steps when working quickly through worded questions.

With Year 5 student Treasure, hesitation and fear of mistakes led her to guess or give up quickly on Prodigy tasks rather than checking answers methodically.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Kingsford reported some real progress across several students lately. One high school student who used to feel unsure about division now talks herself through each step aloud, using a colour-highlighting strategy she created; this shift from silent guessing has made her far more accurate on TAFE assignments.

Another high schooler, after struggling with ordering and converting mixed fractions, began carefully writing out every step and double-checking her answers—she's now catching mistakes herself instead of relying on hints.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 student who was hesitant to ask questions now confidently requests clarification during lessons and even chose extra homework for the week.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Wanted to take this opportunity to say how great Jeremy is! My daughter was incredibly nervous about having a male tutor but after the first session and moving forward, she feels completely comfortable, at ease and really enjoys her tutoring sessions with Jeremy. He has a very positive attitude and is very kind and encouraging towards Maycee's learning journey and for that we thank you all.... especially Jeremy!

Jay-T really liked Kerry and in the one session, saw real value in getting his help

We're very pleased with Rhowdry so far. Madeline is building a great rapport with her and they seem to work well together. I know it will take some time but so far so good.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Gawler Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Roseworthy Primary School.
