The most important thing I could do for a student is to work and adapt to the way that suits them, not all children understand concepts the same way and some need help in certain areas compared to others. This will be able to help me adapt to their learning strategies and make the tutoring most beneficial for the student. I am a committed tutor…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to teach and nurture them in a way that takes the student from thinking "I can't" to "I can" and eventually "I will". - Consistency in following up with students and parents (e.g. homework, course content, etc) - Teaching my students how to think and not just what to think - Teaching…

I think the most important things a tutor can do are to create a supportive environment, encourage curiosity, and build the student’s confidence in their own abilities. A tutor should not just provide answers, but also guide the student in developing problem-solving skills and independent thinking, so they can succeed beyond the tutoring…

Develop their understanding of the subject. This means ensuring they understand the process and the mechanism behind a math calculation for example. This will boost their confidence in being able to answer harder questions that require this skill. Particularly for maths, the harder questions are situated in Q15 and Q16. Attaining marks in this…

I believe that interest is the best teacher, therefore I suppose it is very important for a tutor to bring back students' interests and passions in their studies. If not, the student will only keep seeking help when they are facing the problem and they don't have the intrinsic motivation on studies. However if they are interested and passionate…

I realised that the real challenge often isn't the students' abilities but their engagement with the content. My goal as a tutor is to approach material proactively, sparking curiosity and encouraging students to ask 'why?' and 'how?' instead of passively accepting information at face value. The most important thing is to be a tutor if she can develop these abilities in his student. 1. why they are studying a particular subject? 2. How they can understand the laws of nature by doing science. 3. How they can develop the ability to ask questions? 4. How they can find the right answers to their questions. 5. The most important thing a tutor can do is make the student passionate about their subject. If the student isn't motivated to learn, no amount of lecturing or assignments will help them. There are so many small things about each subject that are super interesting to learn about, but without the right tutor some students miss out. As a young tutor…

The tutor's first job is converting hard 'textbook language' to easy and illustrative concepts. Next is polishing the student's skills with extensive exercises while making sure he has time for other hobbies. It helps if the tutor is aware of things such as fun interactive quizzes or videos that helps makes concepts seem simpler while also keeping…

Inside KyeemaghTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 Sasha focused on algebra questions and consolidating her understanding of positive and negative integers through targeted practice.

Year 9 sessions with Liam addressed trigonometric ratios, including basic applications of sine, cosine, and tangent, as well as graphing these functions.

For Year 11 student Emily, recent lessons explored quadratic equations—covering both factorising techniques and use of the quadratic formula—plus applied skills to real-world problem scenarios.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Mathematics, a student did not attend the scheduled online lesson despite reminders; as noted, "sent her texts and emails before the class, which she has not replied." This gap disrupts progress on planned tutorials.

Meanwhile, in Year 9 Algebra, incomplete homework was an issue: "must take his homework seriously, otherwise he will suffer the consequences of poor results."

A Year 8 student erased working out repeatedly rather than showing full steps—"erases work with an eraser instead of keeping working out"—making it harder to pinpoint misunderstandings during problem-solving.

Missed feedback and hidden errors slow improvement in both cases.

Recent Achievements

One Kyeemagh tutoring session saw a Year 10 student independently catch a calculation error before the tutor did, showing real engagement rather than just following along—he used to be more passive with problem-solving.

In another high school example, a student who had previously skipped writing down her maths working now consistently records every step and talks through her reasoning out loud.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner tackled mixed numerals for the first time and was eager to attempt challenging questions on her own, asking for extra practice worksheets without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Brighton-Le-Sands Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kyeemagh Public School.
