Teaching the methodology and the proper explanation on particular topics while at the same time teaching the student how to apply his theory, formulae, and anwers depending on the questions. Another important task of a tutor is to be able to gain the trust of his student and to make the latter become confident and believe in himself. I believe my…

In terms of whats most important in tutoring, I believe fostering a deep understanding of the material is key. This goes beyond memorisation, aiming to build a solid foundation for future learning. Equally important is building the students confidence, creating an environment where they feel capable and motivated to tackle challenges. Providing…

One of the most important things that a tutor can do for a student is to make students comfortable with learning in the subjects and guide them to keep on track in their studies. It is more about train students to solve problems rather than telling them answers. 1. My knowledge of mathematics would be a strength for me as I have a bachelor degree…

I consider many things which a tutor can do for a student like a tutor can also be a motivator for his students and motivate them to learn. He must clarify the concepts and solve the doubts of his students. A tutor can build a supportive & encouraging environment which can empower students to become independent learners. Being a tutor, I find my…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is not only developing his academics skills but how the tutor encourage student to do more beyond his limit. It is important for the student to have discipline and enjoy the entire session. It should be fun, information, and enjoyable for both the tutor and student. This is to develop…

Education is very important in today's societies, many parents hire tutors to help their children catch up or keep up in school subjects where they are having difficulties and have fallen behind their peers. Tutors can help a student in one or many subjects depending upon the child’s needs and the tutor’s expertise. "My strength is my…

I have rarely ever used the same method of explaining a concept/theory on multiple students. It is really important for tutors to understand the needs and abilities of their students in order to maintain progress. It is also crucial for tutors to have time-management and resourceful qualities in order to ensure academic development in students.…

First of all, which a tutor can do is to be a friend who motivates them, make them learn, make them understand without any pressure and excel them in their early stage of career. Secondly, it's all about how comfortable the students are with tutor to ask them doubts without any hesitation. Thirdly, make them learn how to do a smart work instead…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is help the student understand a topic. This may sound intuitive however it is often majorly overlooked and replaced with acceptance or shear memorisation for the student. What I want is for my students is a true understanding of the subject, giving them the tools of learning so that they can…

I believe assisting the student in their academic journey whenther it be academically or mentally is what a tutor should do for a student. This either through motivating them to try their best, focusing on teaching the students their weaknesses, and guiding these students to become good peoples of society. I am a very good at expressing…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to lay a right foundation for the student to learn. Teaching them not to memorise formulae but to actually understand the theory behind the formula as higher levels of maths rely on prior knowledge that needs to be firmly understood. Build Confidence: Often, a student's struggle with math is more about a fear of failure than an inability to learn. The first job of a tutor is to create a positive, stress-free environment and show the student that they are capable. This shift in mindset is the foundation for all progress. My strong performance in my engineering Diploma at UTS…

I opine that understanding the IQ and how to upgrade it is the key responsibility of a mentor. It is also imperative that a tutor should be patient if a child is not understanding a question and try to explore new ways to make it clear. I am very loving and patient as I know kids take time to understand the key concepts. Non-judgemental is the key…

I believe that helping students to know what they want to study in the future is the most important things. I can build my students engagement with and appreciation of the subject (many students find school boring or purposeless and I make a point to spark more joy in learning by integrating key notes of relevance into every lesson). I will also assure students that it is okay not to understand something, or to feel unconfident. Struggling with…

Inside Liberty GroveTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Alex revised trigonometric identities and tackled calculus problems involving differentiation and integration, focusing on using the chain rule with trig functions.

For Year 11, Sarah worked through logarithms and exponential differentiation as well as practiced applying log laws to various expressions.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Emily focused on improving her understanding of fractions and decimals, working through visual examples to strengthen number sense.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 Mathematics, a student was noted to leave their working out scattered and disorganised when solving algebraic equations—"the page looked rushed, which made it tough to spot sign errors."

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student struggled with time management during calculus tasks; the focus on getting answers quickly led to incomplete steps and missed marks in integration questions.

In English (Year 10), draft essays were sometimes submitted late, limiting the chance for feedback and reworking arguments.

The need to memorise key formulas rather than rely on notes was also evident during trigonometry practice in Year 12.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Liberty Grove recently saw a Year 10 student move from guessing at problem-solving questions to clearly explaining their reasoning step by step, showing real growth in independence.

In senior high school, one student who used to confuse differentiation rules now recalls and applies all of them accurately when tackling calculus problems.

Another older student, previously overwhelmed by essay writing, has started breaking down thesis statements on their own and constructing them with ease.

Last week, a younger learner finished their times tables activity with barely any errors after struggling for weeks.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Strathfield Council Library Service—or at your child's school (with permission), like Concord West Public School.
