Building a proper connection with the student in order to get them to trust and listen to you is inarguably the most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student. Once that relationship is built, the student and tutor can not only pass but excel in their given subject thanks to that built trust. It can really fast-track a struggling student.…

The most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is to help them figure out how to learn in many different ways, thus setting them up for a lifetime of learning. Help them enjoy learning. The role of a maths tutor should be to engage the student and make the learning process fun, encouraging them to put more effort into their learning, consequently improving their results. As well as this, it is vital that a tutor guide the student to a solution rather than simply giving them the answer, allowing them to…

Give the student the foundational skills to excel on the own once outside of tutoring. A good tutor will be able to get their student to a level where they feel competent to work by themselves, and know both how to solve a problem, and why we approach the problem the way we do. I believe the most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is learning to adapt. Local Reviews

Oshi has been very professional, friendly and accomodating. My children really enjoy their sessions with him and we have noticed improvements after 2 sessions and a huge jump in their confidence. He really focuses on areas my children need support with and works to make the sessions fun, yet very beneficial.

Inside LisarowTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Liv worked on index laws, especially multiplying and dividing powers, including the zero index law and powers of fractions.

For Year 9, Chloe revised formulae for speed, distance, and time as part of test preparation and practiced solving tricky equations from her homework.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Arielle tackled multiplication and division word problems to build problem-solving skills with step-by-step support.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student, after missing her school notes, found revision for an upcoming exam difficult—he left his notes and school work book at school so he didn't have any guidelines for revision.

In Year 11 Maths, one student relied on a calculator that wasn't working properly; confusion followed when dividing by π without it.

For a Year 7 English assignment, only limited written material was provided, making feedback hard to deliver and progress slow.

In a senior tutorial, frequent late logins and distractions (like phone use) meant much of the session was spent regaining focus instead of building skills.

Recent Achievements

A Lisarow tutor noticed Liv making a real leap with algebraic fractions: after initially using her intuition, she took on the formal rules and aced tricky problems that had previously slowed her down.

In Year 9, Chloe shifted from relying on guidance to independently double-checking her working when calculating areas—including compound shapes—and even started catching rounding errors herself.

Meanwhile, one primary student, Anureet, moved past hesitation with 11 times tables; after struggling above 10 × 11, she confidently nailed them all during a follow-up test and completed every division question without prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We engaged your services last week to assist our son, Riley. Within that short time, we're absolutely delighted and extremely impressed with the professionalism of your excellent tutor, Eliran! He is very responsive in his communication with me and has been most co-operative when I wished to match his intervention with that of Riley's school curriculum. Riley was somewhat anxious of working with a stranger, however within the first 20 minutes of the session Eliran allayed his fears with his ability to quickly establish a positive rapport, sweeping Riley up with his clear expectations of how Riley should behave in a confident manner. Eliran is obviously very competent in his subject matter and explained concepts in a simple and repetitive style. Riley was faced with a test 2 days after the initial Saturday tutorial and Eliran was most amenable to making a second session at 9am the following Sunday morning, in order to fit in with our needs! Given that this meant Eliran had to travel to our home using 2 modes of public transport, I was extremely impressed with Eliran's commitment to his job and my son. Furthermore, Eliran was also very generous with his time starting and finishing the session 10 minutes before and after the hour had concluded! I informed Riley that this kind of dedication is not common in every employee and that I was astounded with Eliran's diligent work ethic. I believe this conversation inspired Riley to perform with the similar level of integrity, and it has already paid off! We all eagerly awaited the outcome of Riley's test and we're absolutely thrilled that he scored a distinction of 79%, rising well above his average performance of 60%! My husband and I couldn't have wished for a better start, to what we hope will be a long and rewarding relationship with Eliran & Ezymathtutoring!

We are please to advise that Chelsea has been attending 2 x sessions with Shayikh and already are seeing results. Shayikh is an excellent tutor and we are happy with the outcome so far.

Very happy with Thien. My son has jumped from very bad marks in tests to getting high marks.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Erina Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Lisarow Public School.
