The most important thing I can do for a student is to be patient. Patience is key in facilitating the process of learning as it removes the anxiety inducing pressure of expectation and allows the student to solely focus on the content at hand. Patience also allows the student to rationalise concepts at their own pace. This has the effect of deeply…

Local Reviews

My daughter had the pleasure of being taught by Mina this year, and I must say, her dedication to teaching mathematics is truly inspiring. Her ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and relatable manner has not only improved my daughter's understanding of the subject but also increased her confidence in tackling challenging questions. Will definitely be coming back next year.

Inside Little JillibyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ava focused on manipulating equations with multiple variables and reviewed indices and algebraic expansions.

For Year 10, James worked through graphing directly proportional relationships and further developed skills with surds.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Ruby strengthened her understanding of units, tens, hundreds and thousands in numbers and practiced long addition using multi-digit numbers.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 algebra, a student "ran out of time to fully cover inequalities," revealing ongoing struggles with test planning and time management—unfinished simultaneous equations meant concepts remained shaky.

During Year 8 work on indices, another repeatedly confused powers with multiplication; as noted, "he is often found confusing indices and multiplication," showing a need to better use feedback rather than repeating the same errors.

In Year 4, unclear written working in long addition led to mistakes being hard to spot, slowing progress.

A Year 3 student hesitated to attempt word problems independently, missing chances to build confidence through trial and error.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Little Jilliby recently noticed some genuine breakthroughs: a Year 10 student who had always found algebraic substitution tricky was able to use the substitution method confidently with simultaneous equations, finally recognising where he'd previously been stuck.

In another session, a high schooler started solving complex surd and binomial problems independently after struggling with these concepts just weeks ago.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student surprised her tutor by explaining why division is the opposite of multiplication—she'd never made that connection before and could now apply it when dividing larger numbers like 24 and 36 without hesitation.

Maths tutoring in Little Jilliby

Everybody knows that Maths is supposed to be difficult. It requires thinking in a logical and structured manner and those worded problems, they're super hard! The thing is that it's all about having the right approach. Every student learns best in their own specific way but at school there is a one-size-fits-all approach. Some students fall behind, others just can't seem to achieve the success they want. What's the remedy? Private 1-on-1 home tutoring is certainly one workable solution. It's a tailored approach that you can customize to your specific needs whatever they may be.
