Chemistry Tutor Glenlusk, TAS
The most important thing I can do for a student is provide the student with confidence and real time feedback. I compose myself in a approachable and transparent manner. Based on my former experience as a chemistry tutor, I have found students warm to me and form a sense of pride having me as their tutor. I can provide a very approachable,…

Chemistry Tutor West Moonah, TAS
I think the most important things a chemistry tutor can do is listen attentively, and bring excitement into each session. Tutoring is more listening to the areas in which the student is confused rather than trying to explain everything. It is also essential to have enthusiasm about topics, because if you aren’t interested in a subject then the…

Chemistry Tutor Lenah Valley, TAS
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make the subject matter they are teaching enjoyable to learn. This is important because learning should be something we actively engage in and if a tutor can make it so the students seek out learning more readily then they have already succeeded in some sense. As a tutor my strengths are…

tutor must give 100% knowledge on the subjects tutor must clear their doubts immediately and they should be available for students for clearing doubts. tutors must work harder with students to improve their marks and teach them clearly. Listening to the needs of the child will also help you to better understand the student’s situation so that…

Right from the beginning Steph had a great rapport with Tara. She has been a couple of times now and I've never seen Steph so engaged with maths before.

Inside MontroseTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 Aimee focused on revising Food Chemistry for an upcoming SAC, using her attempted practice exam questions to target areas needing clarification.

Year 12 Charli continued work on the evolution topic by reviewing class notes and applying knowledge through relevant exam-style questions.

For Year 12 Alissa, revision was centred around Food Chemistry as well, drawing from her own notes and a set of targeted revision questions to address weaker points ahead of assessment.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 Chemistry student often became overwhelmed by multi-step problems, leading to missed marks when she didn't break questions into smaller parts—"I demonstrated how to summarise the essential features before answering," noted her tutor.

In Year 3 English, a student hesitated to begin creative writing, delaying drafts out of fear her ideas weren't good enough; listing thoughts as dot points helped her get started.

For a senior Biology student, over-reliance on notes prevented quick recall in short-answer tasks. These habits meant time was spent correcting or second-guessing rather than building confidence with new material.

Recent Achievements

One Montrose tutor noticed that **Aimee has started attempting advanced Chemistry questions on her own** before lessons—something she hadn't tried previously. She now openly pinpoints which steps or ideas don't make sense to her so they can focus together, instead of quietly moving on.

Charli, in Year 11 Biology, has become more proactive by **asking clarifying questions whenever something is unclear** and highlighting areas she wants to work on each session.

Meanwhile, Cameron in Year 7 wrote a creative short story with enthusiasm and **confidently accepted feedback for improving grammar** and punctuation.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are certainly happy and off to a great start. Edward has been great, punctual & helpful. I am confident this  trend will continue and George's math will only improve.

We found Luke to be a knowledgeable and good tutor who worked well with Jessica. He was able to provide us with 2 tutoring sessions prior to Jessica's exam. I think more than anything he helped settle her nerves and was able to provide exam study strategies to enable her to approach the Chemistry exam in a prepared and calm manor.

Thanks, we all love love love Kieran.  Just what both my kids needed.  Awesome tutor!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as State Library of Tasmania—or at your child's school (with permission), like Glenorchy Primary School.
