Science Tutor Mooroopna, VIC
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help motivate them and allow them to feed off your enthusiasm for the subject. This can affect change in the student if they previously had negative experiences or just do the subject because 'they have to'. Make learning an adventure, not a chore. My greatest strength is patience. I am calm…

Inside Mooroopna NorthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student Lachlan worked on drawing and interpreting boxplots using a CAS calculator, then moved into full regression analysis by creating scatterplots, fitting trendlines, and calculating coefficients of determination.

In Year 11, Emily revised financial mathematics topics including flat rate depreciation through recursion relations and constructed amortization tables to track principal reductions.

For Year 12, Sophie focused on the basics of circular functions, tackling key definitions and sketching graphs by hand to reinforce understanding.

Recent Challenges

In Year 4, one student repeatedly left long division steps incomplete—multiplication and subtraction were skipped if the first digit divided to zero. As noted: "He didn't finish all four steps for each digit, which made errors hard to spot."

In Year 11 General Maths, another avoided revising annuities and matrix applications between sessions, so when test time arrived, key techniques hadn't been consolidated.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student's maths work was often messy and missing clear written steps; their teacher struggled to follow the logic behind answers.

Homework gaps across Years 3 and 10 meant skills faded quickly before new topics could take hold.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Mooroopna North noticed Savannah move from hesitating with long division to confidently working through problems almost entirely on her own, using a clear 4-step method she'd struggled with at first.

Sienna, a high school student, went from needing reminders about cost functions and break-even analysis to independently explaining gradients and their roles by session's end.

Another recent high school win saw Ava initially unsure with circular functions, but after some support, she explained the principles behind sine and cosine without prompting.

Jessica wrapped up her week by eagerly presenting an organised homework folder—something she hadn't done before.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I started tutoring with Ezy Math as a way of keeping busy in the final year of my postgraduate research. I ended up loving every moment, especially those that were challenging. It was amazing to see my student gain more confidence in understanding and solving maths questions. The proudest moment for me was the session where she didn't ask for my help with her exercises, but finished them perfectly. This experience encouraged me to apply for secondary teacher training this year, and I can't wait to start. Ezy Math Tutoring is such a supportive environment. I really appreciate the personal development modules that they provided, as my student and  benefited greatly from them.

I found EzyMath on the internet when I was trying to find a maths tutor for my daughter leading up to her final exams. Ezymath organised a tutor within two days. Nathan was punctual, organised and very proficient. My daughters grades in maths increased by 10% after just a few sessions. My daughter and I both wished we had of contacted EzyMath sooner and would definitely recommend their services to others.

It's my first time ever tutoring primary school and high school students formally. I admit I was quite nervous at the beginning and I thought the parents would have been highly demanding. I found that the parents are extremely cooperative and the whole work environment is very flexible. I devolped my Communication skills, especially with younger kids and their parents. I believe in this era, face-to-face conversation is overlooked by many thanks to the advanced technologies but the tutoring experience strengthen my belief that face-to-face communication is still the best way to communicate and share ideas.
