Having a good tutor makes the subject automatically interesting and students tend to invest more time and put more effort into it. I am a very patient and dedicated person. Being patient with a student has to be the most important. Learning isn’t the same for everyone and some areas of learning are harder for some people. Remaining patient and staying kind while a child is learning is extremely important. I am a patient person, who can think creatively and how to teach subjects in different ways to suit different…

To teach everything, mainly the basics, simply so that they can easily remember and pass any barrier or question thrown upon them. Moreover, I think practise questions and exercises will further contribute. Communication understanding and friendliness. I think the result all depends on how comfortable the student sees me as a tutor. So I make…

I consider a tutor responsibility towards students is to be committed and flexible. The tutor should be with their student even if both have been going through the exam period. The tutor should never cancel on a lesson with a student for their own studies. As well, it is a must to be patient towards the student and be flexible as a tutor to learn…

The tutor's ability to adapt to a student's learning style is crucial. Not every student can be taught in the same manner. Regularly evaluating a student's learning patterns, whether through visual, verbal or written methods is very important in identifying the most effect strategy to cater for the student's needs. During class time, students…

I would say the most important thing a tutor can do for a student would be giving them motivation and support. As a tutor we can help build the students confidence in their academic abilities. We can also effectively equip students with valuable study skills that's applicable in all their future studies. Lastly, learning can be challenging, so as…

1. Providing a figure of support - It's important that a student feels comfortable asking their tutor questions and knows that they will be taken seriously no matter how simple the question may seem. 2. Encouragement - It's easy for students to lose confidence when they can't understand something, and as a tutor it's important that you can help…

Lauren was great, she was punctual, friendly and professional. My daughter warmed to her straight away and is already looking forward to her next lesson.
Sophie, Mount Hawthorn

Inside Mount HawthornTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Emily focused on converting mixed numbers and improper fractions, as well as identifying and simplifying similar fractions using visual aids.

In Year 8, Sarah tackled solving more complex linear equations and practiced creating flow charts to clearly show her working out.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Joshua worked through probability questions, including the use of Venn diagrams to represent outcomes and calculate combined probabilities.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, a reluctance to show working when tackling complex multiplication or linear equations led to hidden errors—one tutor observed, "she needed reminders to set out each step for clarity."

Meanwhile, in Year 10 English, an assignment draft was marked by run-on sentences and confusion with key terms; without concise planning, ideas became too broad for timed tasks.

For a Year 5 student revising times tables, focusing only on familiar patterns meant less progress with the 8s and 9s.

In these moments, confidence dipped as tasks grew more challenging or feedback was missed in real time.

Recent Achievements

One Mount Hawthorn tutor noticed a Year 10 student who had previously struggled to include key elements in essay responses now consistently highlights all keywords from prompts and ensures every aspect is addressed—this shift has made her written plans much more thorough.

In Year 8, a student who used to hesitate asking for help with fiction analysis now speaks up whenever she's unsure, leading to real improvements in her understanding of plot and character.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner who found linear equations confusing last term can now confidently solve them using flow charts without any guidance.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I believe my biggest accomplishment has been to raise the grades of my students from the average levels to the above-average, since it reflects the fact that all students have the potential for great talent with hard work and practice. I came to work with Ezy Math Tutoring to pass on the positive experience that comes from having a good tutor in a challenging subject. From my experience, I re-learned how to teach others ideas, concepts and facts through various established and self-made techniques, which I can apply to my own studies with my fellows and peers. I also got into the discipline of keeping reports, records and other documentation, an important skill for any career. Having uni students as tutors allows for a more recent and up-to-date understanding of school-level subjects, as well as a greater understanding of the challenges involved and strategies to beat them. I would recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to uni students who want to keep their maths skills sharp, enhance some valuable skills, and earn some pocket money as well.

Our son lacked confidence when tackling maths subject matter and in doing the associated homework. We contacted Ezymath Tutoring, who quickly found us a tutor  who worked well with our son. As the sessions continued, our son gained knowledge and confidence in the subject matter, improved his study technique as well and ultimately got a satisfactory result in his year 12 exam.  We would recommend Ezymath Tutoring to any parent looking for assistance in their child's maths education. The tutoring is backed up with helpful hints and reference material  as an added bonus.

Charlie's tutor, Alex, was remarkable with Charlie and I cannot speak highly enough of him. He is doing a lot better in numeracy.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as City of Vincent Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mount Hawthorn Primary School.
