I believe there are three main important things that tutors can offer their students. Firstly, tutors have the best opportunity to instil a genuine passion for learning and for the subject they are teaching to their student. Love of knowledge and appreciation of education can be fostered through deeply personal and tailored classes. Tutors can…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide support. Mathematics does not come easy to everyone, and in fact can cause some stress, especially in the the later years of schooling. Therefore, the tutor should be there to provide support and to ensure that the student is comfortable with the work. I believe my strengths are…

A tutor can play a very important role in motivating the student so that he can understand and achieve. Thus, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is instilling a strong belief in them that they can achieve whatever they want, provided they are giving their best. I believe having a tutor who presents work in a manageable and stepwise manner is key. many students are embarrassed to admit when they don't understand concepts they may think are simple, or are intimidated by the seeming difficulty of some of the work. Presenting the problems as manageable and breaking them down helps the student gain your trust…

It is important to make the student feel comfortable when you are tutoring them. When they are comfortable, they would be more open to explaining themselves to you about concepts they don't understand. This would then make it easier for the tutor to explain the concept and help them understand it better! Another important aspect is how you…

I've had a wonderful experience with this tutoring service. It's so easy to connect with the team—whether you prefer picking up the phone or sending an email, the client service representatives are quick to respond. They provide a clear overview of expectations and requirements, and then you can sit back while they take care of matching your child with the right tutor. The convenience of having sessions at home, at a time that fits your schedule, really helps relieve the stress of managing other responsibilities. The trial session before committing makes it easy to ensure you're paired with the right person to meet your child's individual needs. After that, it's just a simple process to reallocate sessions and you're good to go—everyone's happy. I also appreciate the discount for paying upfront for sessions. The representatives are always easy to connect with, and they follow up to make sure everything is going smoothly. We've been really pleased with the tutors assigned to us, and it's clear the team takes time to carefully match tutors based on our needs. Overall, a great experience!

Inside Mount WaverleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Jessica worked on plotting linear graphs, including handling multiple lines on a single Cartesian plane, and used real examples to understand gradients and intercepts.

In Year 10, Ryan focused on quadratic equations by practicing completing the square and explored graphing parabolas with dilations and translations.

For Year 12, Ethan revised differentiation techniques such as the chain, product, and quotient rules and applied these skills to solve application questions from past exam papers.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Specialist Maths, a student waited until the last day to complete homework on simultaneous equations, leading to forgotten steps and gaps in recall—"by which she has forgotten what we learned last week."

In VCE Methods revision, another learner avoided writing full working or using correct notation when tackling calculus and graphing tasks; equal signs and logical layout were often missing, making it harder to track errors or secure marks.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 session revealed distraction from mobile phones during lessons, with note-taking left incomplete and explanations needing extra time to land. The result: confusion lingers where clarity was needed most.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Mount Waverley noticed a big shift with one Year 11 student who, after weeks of hesitating to speak up, started asking for clarification whenever something was unclear—especially during tricky calculus problems.

Another high school student, previously overwhelmed by her school's approach, surprised herself by requesting extra homework at the end of the session and tackling it independently.

Meanwhile, a younger student showed real initiative: she now catches her own mistakes in maths without prompting and even laughs about "silly errors" instead of getting discouraged. Last week, she redid all her practice questions solo after reviewing the method together.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

There are many accomplishments I achieved as a math tutor for Ezy Math Tutoring but the biggest would have to be having the chance to work with students who are striving for success and the satisfaction that came with connecting to the students when trying to explain a topic, whether they be a senior student working toward a good Overall Position or a beginner grasping for understanding in the subject of mathematics. From the tutoring experience during my time with Ezy Math Tutoring, I was able to achieve exactly what I was after while job hunting, and that was the ability to take on a leadership role and lead students from stressful situations of not understanding content to successful results within a few months time. I would definitely recommend working with Ezy Math Tutoring as they take the effort in assigning students within your area so travelling to students is not an issue, and for the students looking for tutors, the tutors here will offer you as much help as you need, with set strategies proven to be successful to help you reach where you want to be. 31st July 2012

My biggest accomplishment is guiding a year 12 student through the final topics of 2 Unit mathematics and making her understand the concepts and formulas in those topics. My second biggest accomplishment is my year 8 student receiving an A. I came to work for Ezy Math Tutoring because I wanted an income while studying in University. What I got out of the tutoring experience is that I have increased my communication skills as well as my teaching skills. I also gained experience in being responsible. What was special about Ezy Math Tutoring were the guidelines that were given to us. They were good on guiding how to set each lesson, what to expect and how to handle certain situations. 3rd August 2012

I came on board as a tutor, when I was looking for a part-time job to support my post-graduate studies. I felt tutoring was a great way to utilise the skills I had in mathematics while working with someone to help improve themselves and develop my own skill set at the same time. It was personal development on multiple levels. The tutoring experience at EzyMath was very unique - because the focus was on helping the student develop learning skills, that could be applied outside of mathematics. This was very appealing to me because I feel it's important to teach skills that enable others to learn themselves. The weekly material provided by EzyMath was extremely thought-provoking and always had a practical application. My biggest accomplishment was definitely becoming friend and mentor to my student. We were able to discuss issues outside of the normal day to day work, and I was able to understand the interests and learning capabilities of my student. This was invaluable to for developing a good working relationship thereby enabling me to structure my lessons with more intent overtime. Overall, I found that working for EzyMath was both challenging and extremely satisfying. I learned a great deal about different types of learning methods, teaching methods and the skills it takes to deal with other people. If you are looking for an engaging experience where you can make a positive contribution to other students, then working at EzyMath is definitely for you! 9th August 2012
