A tutor can do a lot for a student. But I feel like the most important thing that can be done is to change the idea of a negative notion about a subject in the students mind. Attitude plays a key role in learning, and diminishing that fear, and giving the student confidence can really change their entire interest and perception about that certain…

The most important thing a tutor can do is be a mentor. Students need a guide who can not only help them academically but also go a little extra and use their experience to teach them essential skills like time management. These little details play a major role in the tutee's overall success. My strengths as a tutor include deep understanding of…

I believe the most important role of a tutor is to create an environment where the student feels fully comfortable and confident. It’s crucial that they never hesitate to ask questions or admit when something isn’t clear. When students feel safe and supported, genuine learning can take place. After that, I think it’s about helping them…

One of the most significant roles I believe a tutor can play for a student is to inspire a vision for a brighter future and a better life. A tutor serves as a guiding light, helping students navigate not only academic challenges but also shaping their path forward in life, extending beyond the boundaries of subject-specific problems. For me,…

The most important thing that tutors should and can do for a student is to assess their current level, create a goal and guide them towards that level. Having patience while students work through and learn, as well as challenging them with new questions are an important role for tutors. I think my strengths as a tutor is patience and gentleness so…

Being empathetic and understanding is one of the most important qualities a tutor can have. A good tutor will make sure that the student understands a particular concept rather than just learn how to solve a particular problem because that way the student can apply the learning in different situations and come up with ways to find the solution by…

Teach student life. Being kind human is better than an arrogant genius. I look up to my mentors, who not only taught me skills, but also gave me their thoughts and their experience. I do like to keep that in mind and be very careful of how I think and act around them, as the most important thing a tutor can do is teach a student the biggest…

A tutor should be able to and simplify a particular concept making it easier for a student to understand. A tutor should also be able to motivate the student and provide constant encouragement when the student is feeling demotivated. A tutor should also be able to adapt and improve teaching styles depending on the student and their progress. It…

The most important thing is that they understand the theories behind certain topics. Especially in maths where many educational systems and tutors would just show the formulas in answering questions and not how they got to the formula in the first place. If they do understand the theories, then everything else will come easy. I have prior…

I am over the moon and beyond grateful with her conduct throughout the entire time I utilized her services. Renee is efficient, dedicated, intelligent, compassionate, friendly, understanding, mature, supportive, honest, an excellent communicator, flexible, very professional, and very adept at handling crunch time stressful moments. She really showed me what she was made of, especially in the last couple of months when my Daughter went through some personal challenges and when deadlines were fast approaching and stress levels were high. Overall, I am so pleased with Renee's services. She is an invaluable asset to your service and I have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone.

Inside MurarrieTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Lincoln worked on solving linear equations and reviewed key ideas in probability, including constructing sample spaces for simple experiments.

In Year 10, Rebecca focused on dividing polynomials using long division and applied derivatives to solve problems involving rates of change.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student completed exam revision on time series analysis—such as three-point moving averages—and tackled questions on bivariate data analysis using real datasets from past assessments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 Maths Methods student avoided attempting unfamiliar questions independently, as seen when she hesitated to work through differentiation problems without step-by-step guidance.

"She struggled attempting questions on her own," noted a tutor after one session.

In Year 10, another student missed foundational concepts due to a recent subject change and felt overwhelmed revisiting new content, which led to gaps in understanding long division of polynomials and trigonometric identities.

For a primary-level learner, incomplete homework persisted week-to-week, making it harder to reinforce key skills before moving onto new material—unfinished tasks lingered in the background during lessons.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Murarrie recently saw some real progress across a range of students. One Year 11 student, after struggling with data analysis, learned to use Excel functions to create scatter graphs and residual plots, then interpreted the direction and type of relationships independently for her PSMT project.

Another high schooler who used to wait for hints now attempts complex familiar questions solo during revision—she's started highlighting her own areas of concern and requesting targeted help.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who was previously hesitant about maths now openly asks when stuck instead of guessing and finished all her homework problems using new strategies she'd practiced together with her tutor.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bulimba Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Murarrie State School.
