Maths Tutor Greendale, VIC
The moat important things a tutor can do for a student are to make them enjoy the subject and make them understand why they are learning the content. I believe that once you understand the why of something, you understand it better. This helps students think for themselves and find their own solutions to problems. My strengths as a tutor are being…

Local Reviews

Justin has been working with my 11 year old son, Myki for the last 8 months. In this time we have seen a significant improvement in Myki's overall understanding and confidence in how he approaches maths at school. He is more involved in class discussion and has a sound understanding of his school work when presented to him. Justin's teaching style and personality has allowed Myki to thrive from tutoring, taking him from being an average performing student to the top of the class. The transition from face to face tutoring to online was seamless. Myki looks forward to his weekly sessions with Justin. We cant praise Justin enough.

Content Covered

Year 7 student Noah worked on expanding and factorising quadratic equations, focusing on recognising patterns in binomial expansions and applying them to solve problems.

Year 10 student Ella covered the heat released during combustion reactions using specific heat capacity calculations and practised interpreting H NMR spectra to identify hydrogen environments in organic compounds.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Sam revised DNA manipulation techniques, including the steps of PCR and how gel electrophoresis can be used to detect mutations within a family.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 Biology, one student hesitated to answer questions if unsure, often leaving them blank rather than attempting an explanation. "She shies away when answering," a tutor noted during cellular respiration revision—leading to missed feedback and slower confidence growth.

In Year 10 Maths, another student repeatedly failed to bring her homework book or complete assigned work; in sessions on GST and tax deductions, calculations were sometimes missing or written elsewhere, making it hard to track progress. This disorganization meant she could not easily review past errors, increasing reliance on tutor prompting instead of building independent problem-solving skills.

Recent Achievements

One Myrniong tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 11 student who used to avoid asking questions—she now stops the lesson to clarify anything unclear and has started attempting tougher quiz problems without prompting.

In Year 9 maths, another student who struggled with polynomial division last term can now identify and divide polynomials accurately, even finding remainders independently.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner, previously hesitant with fractions, is now confidently converting between mixed forms and explaining her reasoning step by step. Last session, she completed all revision questions on her own and described each process out loud.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

My biggest accomplishment: Great kid in grade 4, energetic and fun to tutor, although lacked concentration and confidence in maths. I showed him simple maths tricks that no curriculum teaches (e.g. how to figure out 11 times tables to any number). He understood it well, but the biggest boost he had was the confidence he got from knowing something the other kids didn't. He started to enjoy maths a lot more and his scores and attitude improved. His care givers were very happy about it. I got a big kick from steering him in the right direction and I hope he carries on this confidence in all his endevours. With Ezy Math, what I felt was great were the weekly tutoring tips/themes. It helped a lot in knowing that there are many different approaches to many different kids' habits/attitudes (e.g. as above, just confidence boosting can greatly improve a child's performance). It was also great in having that as a tool to keep in touch and keep learning as the job progresses. 21st July 2012

Ezy Math Tutoring is a company that I would comfortably work with again as it provided me with the opportunity to work with students commited to improving in the classroom. Ezy Math Tutoring is not only a company that aims to help students with their mathematics but goes above and beyond to help clients with their general student careers, through the Continuing Education Program modules that tutors are asked to go through with their students on a regular basis. I liked the purpose they served. Ezy Math Tutoring finds great importance in informing the parents about their childs progress. The monthly progress reports help busy parents keep up to date with the work being covered and the overall progress of their child, which was the main attraction for me. If you are seeking a professional service that provides results I would highly reccomend Ezy Math Tutoring to any of the parents and prospective tutors out there. 22nd July 2012

Ezy Math Tutoring provided me with a lot of support, resources and training during my time working for them. I found teaching the students very rewarding and seeing the improvement in results really made it worth it. I would definitely recommend Ezy Math Tutoring for both prospective clients and fellow tutors as each will benefit greatly from this service. 23rd July 2012

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ballan Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Myrniong Primary School.
