Tutors in Norwest include high-achieving graduates, experienced teachers, subject specialists, and passionate mentors from top Australian universities. Many have received academic awards or hold advanced degrees, and all share a genuine commitment to helping students succeed.
Other than helping the student achieve their personal goals, It's also important to ensure that they develop a love for learning and instill a sense of discipline and responsibility. Everybody learns differently and I feel that I am able to understand and adapt my teaching style to better suit the students needs rather than force them to adapt to…
“If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.†A tutor must not just allow a student to improve whilst with the tutor, but teach them to learn and improve anytime they study without one. Teaching a student to approach challenges, and to develop the habit of using their mistakes as…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is lead them to an open door we have previously crossed from our past experience so they have the ability to enter with their own confidence and hopefully pass on that knowledge to future generations. My strenghts for me as a tutor would be my orgainsational skills which help me and…
I think the most important thing for a physics tutor is to understand what the student needs and work through those blocks with positive reinforcement. Some students have a hard time understanding concepts while others have no faith in themselves and struggle to retain information. I believe that the best thing a tutor can do for a student is to…
Firstly, talking aloud helps to understand the way we think. Moreover, transferring skills would be really important thing a physics tutor can do for the students. Having PhD in an engineering field, I have passed all these courses and lessons. Additionally, I have taught Mathematics and Physics for about 10…
To be attentive and to address the students personal needs for growth. The tutor should set an ideal example in terms of behaviour motivation and actions- one which a student should be able to look up to but also resonate with. This allows him to engage with the student at a personal level and provide better more relatable academic support, but…
The most important thing a physics tutor can do for their students is to foster a love for learning. When a tutor instills a genuine curiosity and passion for acquiring knowledge, it becomes a lifelong gift that goes beyond specific subjects or exams. By nurturing this love for learning, tutors empower their students to become self-motivated,…
You can inspire a student and make him independent. The goal of a teacher (ironically) is to make himself redundant. Being able to develop self-learning skills and teaching oneself by asking right questions is the key process of learning. Eventually, you can master the art of learning itself and you don't need a teacher. I can be very friendly and…
I believe that since every student is different in the way they think and learn, it is important for a physics tutor to establish a connection and relationship with their students so the tutor can better understand the students habits. This would allow the tutor to better tailor their lessons towards the student so they learn and understand…
One of the most important things I can do for a student is to create a positive learning environment, which ensures they feel comfortable to ask questions and take the time that they need to properly understand a topic. I meet students where they are at with their understanding and explain topics in a way that best suits their learning style, with…
The best a physics tutor can do for his students is:

Be able to develop a friendly yet professional rapport with their student that effectively creates a comfortable environment for the student to ensure that they maintain focus in the classroom and are able to communicate their concerns to the tutor. Having experienced a variety of tutors, I've gained insights into effective and ineffective…
One of the most important things a physics tutor can do for a student is to provide encouragement and maybe change their perspective on a subject that may seem difficult and overwhelming, to know they can achieve success in that subject. While creating a positive and inviting environment, where students are not anxious to ask questions or be…
My most important skill as a physics tutor is being able to actively listen and answer the potentially inexhaustible questions a student may have so as to sufficiently develop their understanding of the subject matter. I believe my ability to explain and deconstruct complex ideas and processes as well as my focus on the understanding behind these…
All the students come to tutoring, because they can't understand the subject or some concepts may is hard to grasp. So as a physics tutor I have to convert complex topics into simpler topics and prepare presentation and further experiment for understanding concept easily The friendly interaction with the students may help them to clarify their…
A tutor can develop confidence in students by sorting out their problems. Another thing which is very important is to connect contents to the real world situations so that students can learn all contents easily. Adaptability and Flexibility

Tutor must create the friendly environment in the class and ask them about the question related to the topic. It should help to tackle the problem more easily and smoothly as a physics tutor. Make all of them to learn the method easily and helps to communicate with the student. Makes student to learn easily and apply the method in real…
I believe that it is important for a tutor to be patient, empathetic, and understanding of the student's unique circumstances and challenges. By providing a positive and supportive learning experience, a tutor can help the student develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed academically and beyond. As a tutor, I believe my strengths lie…
A tutor can explain the practical applications of the subject he or she teaches in real life. As a tutor I can make my students visualise the concepts which cannot be grasped instantly. I believe that as a tutor I know the potential areas or concepts where students face problems to understand and I am confident to explain the tricky and difficult…
I think a tutor can give his full attention to a student and help in his growth by inculcating confidence in him that he can achieve what he want in his life. I think I have the following skills:

# hard working
# can-do attitude
# dedicated

# knowledgeable
# never give up so…
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to encourage them to persevere in times of academic adversity. This is because if a student cannot believe in themselves, they won't be able to achieve their true capabilities. Only after this encouragement can students reach for the stars. My strength as a tutor involves my position as a…

In primary, tutoring often targets core arithmetic—addition, subtraction, times tables, fractions, and building number sense—while also pushing for deeper comprehension, not just rote rules. High school sessions shift to algebraic thinking, graphing, interpreting questions, and developing strong exam strategies. There’s a big emphasis on breaking down word problems, revisiting tricky homework, and test prep for NAPLAN or semester exams, always tailored to what each student finds hardest right now.
Recent Challenges
Some primary students rush through comprehension or maths tasks without fully reading instructions, leading to incomplete or off-target answers. In high school, it’s common for students to have scattered or unclear working, which makes multi-step problems harder to check and fix. Other frequent hurdles include forgetting materials, leaving homework unfinished, or spending revision time catching up on missed basics instead of moving forward—all of which can hold back progress and lead to confusion.
Recent Achievements
Tutors are noticing students becoming more proactive during lessons—regularly checking their own work, spotting errors, and making corrections without being asked. There’s a clear shift toward students verbalising their steps in maths and explaining their reasoning aloud, rather than rushing through problems. Tutors also report that learners are reviewing their test results with more care and taking the initiative to improve, showing greater confidence and ownership of their progress.
What they say about our tutoring
All is good Athena really likes Fatemeh, and is enjoying the tutoring.
Best regards
Matthew has been extremely happy with the tutoring Hannah has provided, and received an A on his most recent Maths test this week. Hannah is always very punctual and explains things very clearly to Matthew, and in particular has encouraged him to show his working out, which contributed toward him receiving more marks on his recent test than he would have otherwise received.
Matthew has already asked if Hannah can continue to tutor him next year!
Rebecca is extremely happy with Diana. She is truly amazing and the first session was a great success with understanding and common ground. Very happy.
