Geography Tutor Nairne, SA
Have a good working relationship with them. Be patient. Encourage them to 'have a go'. Encourage them to take a 'risk'. Help them to understand that mistakes are ok - they are simply a step in the learning process. Encourage them to do their best. Celebrate their successes. Encourage them to believe in themselves and their abilities. Vast…

Geography Tutor Littlehampton, SA
The single most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to help them build confidence in their own abilities to learn and overcome challenges. By helping grow and nurture this sense of confidence, a tutor can give a student the tools that they need to learn not only the subject they are working on, but also other subjects and skill or…

Help them build confidence to believe they can succeed. Being able to explain topic areas in different ways, using plain language to help them understand. I also strongly believe in teaching students core study skills to build structure to their problem…

Inside PetwoodTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Sydney worked on building confidence with multiplication and division using textbooks and worksheets, then moved to fraction fundamentals and equivalence, including representing fractions on number lines.

Year 9 student Josh focused on algebraic manipulation, tackling more challenging problems involving multiplication, division, and common factors before revising trigonometry basics such as SOH CAH TOA through both written examples and visual aids.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Sophie concentrated on calculus skills by practising differentiation from first principles for functions involving square roots, alongside revision of integration techniques applied to definite integrals with unknown limits.

Recent Challenges

A Year 3 student working on fractions and decimals showed confusion when converting between representations, sometimes misidentifying 1/4 as 0.33, which slowed progress in related tasks. As one tutor noted, "she kept thinking it was 0.33 rather than 0.25."

Meanwhile, a Year 10 student tackling algebraic worded problems often struggled to translate scenarios into equations under time pressure, making multi-step solutions harder to construct and check for accuracy.

In senior maths (Year 12), difficulty arose when attempting unseen problem types without first reviewing underlying principles—this led to repeated revisiting of similar errors during practice exams.

Recent Achievements

One Petwood tutor recently noticed a Year 11 student who, after struggling with integration techniques, began exam revision early and managed to tackle complex integration problems by independently rearranging expressions—something she hesitated to attempt before.

Another high schooler made a real shift in his approach to algebra: last week he needed reminders for key steps, but this session he took on feedback and completed challenging questions without prompting.

Meanwhile, a younger student who used to guess when unsure now actively asks for help with times tables and checks her own work; today she filled out the multiplication chart up to 11 entirely on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

It was a pleasure working with such a lovely organization. Not only do they listen but they try and solve the child learning difficulties. There tutors are great and also support the child. My daughters mark improved and so did her love for Math's. Would recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to all.

Just a quick email to thank you to Ezy Math and especially Daniel. Natalya received her report card yesterday and passed maths which hasn't happened since the end of year 4. Her teacher has said that continued practice is neccesary for her to continue to pass as she tends to forget the maths concepts when not applying them regularly. Don, I and her teacher have seen an incredible increase in her confidence in Maths as she is no longer afraid to put her hand up and answer a question. Daniel is such a fantastic tutor for Natalya and she responds very well to his approach to tutoring.

Good afternoon. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for sending Justin as Arin's tutor. He has been wonderful and has helped Arin greatly to achieve a better result as well as boosting his confidence. Thank you so much to your friendly team and of course to Justin.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mount Barker Community Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Nairne School - Preschool and Primary.
