The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is provide them with motivation to move on and keep pushing. Since I know those times are not easy i reckon helping students get through with their maximum ability is crucial. I am very patient and I am willing to explain something as many times until the student has understood the concept.…

It is very important for the tutor to build their students confidence by celebrating their progress and encouraging their efforts. Tutors should also adapt their teaching style to their students specific needs. The tutor should also ensure their student's understanding is complete, that they aren't simply regurgitating information. I am patient, I…

I believe a tutor can impact student's lives by providing the foundation he needs for further studies. A student with a poor concept might some how pass but he will struggle in the future, or looses interest in that subject. Hence a tutor can strengthen that foundation, at the same time be a source of motivation and a be a big brother. My main…

To make the student comfortable enough. For example, when the tutor has explained something multiple times but the student still couldn’t grasp the topic, the student is still free to ask the teacher about the topic again. Tutors fill a different role than teachers and parents, and that puts them in a unique position to support students. Personal relationships are foundational to student success -- the more connected a student feels to his or her tutor, the more the tutor creates trust and respect, essential ingredients for students to learn well. When a tutor…

Inside Pleasure PointTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Mia worked through homework tasks involving perimeter and length, as well as addition, multiplication, and division to check her maths level.

In Year 7, Emily focused on solving algebraic equations for x and practiced multiplying monomials and binomials in preparation for upcoming topics.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Lucas tackled linear relationships by graphing straight lines from equations and explored coordinate geometry using example problems.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10, one student often hesitated during multi-step algebra and geometry problems, pausing for reassurance before writing answers—"she kept asking if what she was writing made sense," a tutor noted. This pattern led to incomplete working and sometimes missing final answers in tests, especially under time pressure.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner's bookwork became difficult to follow when fractions with unlike denominators appeared; inconsistent layout hid errors until they were pointed out.

In both cases, anxiety about correctness slowed progress and left key steps unpracticed, causing confusion during more complex or unfamiliar exam tasks.

Recent Achievements

One Pleasure Point tutor recently noticed a big change in a Year 10 student, Leila: she's started catching her own mistakes and back-checking answers before the tutor steps in, which wasn't happening a few weeks ago.

During practice exams, she now explains where she went wrong and corrects herself without prompting.

Another high school session saw Leila confidently ask for tougher graphing questions after finishing the standard set—a first for her, as she used to hesitate with new topics.

Meanwhile, a younger student who previously struggled with fractions completed an entire worksheet on adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators independently.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We are extremely happy with Estephanie.   She has managed to hit exactly the right note.   We are just looking for Isabel to understand some basic principles and Estaphie is managing this with patience and skill.    I cannot speak highly enough of Estaphanie.

I am happy with the way things have started up.  Peter has already had an improvement in his Maths test result and I am hoping that this will also be the case with his recent SAC.

Thank you for your follow up email. Yes it all seems to be going along fine with Ben. I think Cassie is finding helpful and slowly building her confidence again. She was quite a bit behind and struggling so I understand it will probably take a little while. She had a maths test last week which Ben appeared to provide a thorough preparation for her.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Panania Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Panania Public School.
