First things is to make them feel comfortable so that they can so their doubts. Next, understand the prior knowledge of a student and then give examples on the problems based on that. It helps them to understand various concepts easily and they start building interest in studies. Lastly, try to make education interesting for them! My main…

The most prominent thing is to work according to the level of child. For example, some students love to study through animations and some by real world examples and also some by doing practicals or activities. Hence; its the duty of a tutor to find the way of teaching that interacts a student and make it interesting for a child to explore that…

It is never easy with studying - and different students will have their own speed of absorbing the lesson they are trying to learn. Several factors may come into play in those challenges whether it's their cognition ability, skills of their instructor, or the status of the environment where they are trying to learn. I belive a tutor can help in…

I think that making a student love the subject is the most important thing. When the students starts loving Maths instead of doing it just for the sake of passing, then they(the students) can perform much better. I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to listen. If the tutor is able to listen to what the student is saying, and observe the student's weaknesses, they will be able to work on those precise weaknesses, leading to the success of the student. I also believe that allowing the student to make mistakes is extremely…

In my opinion, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make learning fun and engaging. Many times, concepts can be difficult to understand just because they may not be taught the right way. A tutor helps a student understand a topic, learn a skill, complete tasks, get better grades, and achieve high standards in general. The most important thing that a tutor can do is motivate a student. No matter how good the tutor or the student, if the student doesn't want to put in the effort then tutoring will be far less effective. If you are able to motivate your student and make the learning somewhat entertaining then that student will achieve much greater results than…

Inside PlumptonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Zoe focused on foundational algebra skills, including basic equations and substitution, using worksheets for practice.

In Year 10, Lily worked through matrices as part of her early start in Data, alongside reviewing key topics for General Mathematics.

For Year 12, Chatwell's session included an overview of Business Management and English materials while also clarifying specific questions from the General Maths curriculum to set goals for the year ahead.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student working on algebraic techniques often skipped showing full steps, leading to repeated sign errors—"she'd often confuse (x, y) for (y, x)," noted her tutor.

In VCE English, one student struggled with essay writing under timed conditions; her reluctance to complete practice essays meant real exam pacing remained untested.

For a Year 6 maths topic, hesitation in answering multiplication and division questions slowed progress even when she knew the basics.

Homework was occasionally incomplete in both primary and senior levels—one missed exercise left a gap that resurfaced during review sessions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Plumpton noticed a Year 12 student who, after previously struggling to organise her thoughts, began pinpointing her weaknesses in paragraph structure and clearly asked for targeted help.

In Year 10 maths, one student had been hesitant with algebra but recently tackled worded questions independently on the Cartesian plane and managed points placement with only light prompting.

Meanwhile, a younger student who once needed frequent guidance with fractions now answers problems without hesitation—last session she solved all equations placed in front of her unaided.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Even as a trained classroom teacher, I found Ezymath's tutoring resources particularly helpful in dealing with struggling students. I would recommend the basic program to any student or parent as it is designed to help tutors systematically address common learning problems, and provide structure for the student. In addition to dealing with content knowledge, the Ezymath program encourages students to develop positive study habits, effectively engage with their regular teachers, and build confidence in academic learning that will continue to yield results long beyond their time with a tutor.

Things are going really well with Adam. Josephine is very comfortable with him and enjoys their lessons. He has been very helpful, friendly and supportive. We're really pleased its working out so well.

We are extremely happy with Lakshya. He was just what Quinn needed and the 2 of them get along so well. We feel very lucky that we ended up with Lakshya.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Caroline Springs Library & Learning Hub—or at your child's school (with permission), like Yarrabing Secondary College.
