The most important thing a physics tutor can do to a student is make student believe that student can learn and reach proper solution. Every one has the potential to learn things so, once a student starts believing in himself/herself studying starts to become fun. I as a tutor hardly give up on my students. I can only be satisfied and feel…

The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to understand them and ensure that they feel heard. When someone misunderstands something you say, it is discouraging and generally you lose the confidence to clarify. It is essential for tutors to understand the root cause of a student’s struggles, whether it is a lack of…

As a University student myself, I can relate with the most of the things that school students face. In that way, I could help them as a pal rather than as a teacher. I could use my own experience from not that long ago and share with them which would help them in their study. Making a student understand by simplifying a problem is the most…

Being patient is the single most important thing a physics tutor can do his/her students. In my experience, I reaped the biggest rewards of being patient with the most struggling students of a cohort in terms of learning outcomes. In relative terms, return on patience with students outstrips that on all other aspects of tutor effort in my personal…

I believe that developing the learning capability of the student is the best thing a physics tutor can do because a tutor is only going to be there for a short run however their learning ability is going to assist and stick with them forever. The first and foremost thing a physics tutor should do is to create interest in the subject that is being taught. The reason is simple, when the student is interested in learning the subject, a teacher's job is a cakewalk. A teacher should make the student believe that subjects like maths are pretty easy and interesting to learn. This can be done…

The most important things a physics tutor can do could be split into two parts. Academically, tutors are there to help the student to learn all the knowledge required for them to achieve better grades. Spiritually, tutors are there as mentors, which they need to encourage the student to achieve their full potential, because usually due to exam…

Tutors should check for understanding as they go and constantly build confidence so that the student feels like their abilities are improving. When a student feels confident, wonderful things begin to happen. Their curiosity is ignited, and they are more likely to ask questions in class and read additional texts about things that interest them.…

I believe the most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is prepare them for the unexpected. While it's important that the student can understand and solve general problems they may be presented with, the only way to achieve an A grade is to go above and beyond what is expected of them. This can only be achieved if the student…

Inside PlymptonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Mavis explored simple fraction addition and subtraction using hands-on materials, and completed a reading comprehension task about anglerfish.

For Year 10, Una reviewed key Chemistry concepts including moles, periodic table structure, and atomic theory in preparation for an upcoming test, as well as tackling Maths topics like simple and compound interest and capital gains tax.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sarah focused on mastering biology content for exams by revising protein synthesis, DNA replication, and cell cycle checkpoints with the aid of mock tests and teacher-provided slides.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 maths, Mavis left her booklet at home, which meant time was lost reconstructing examples instead of deepening problem-solving.

For senior biology, an unfinished report and missing in-text references interrupted the flow of assignments; "the report was unfinished. The conclusion and discussion needed to be done before submission time."

In Year 10 science, Una could answer questions but hesitated to explain terms like 'collision theory,' revealing gaps in articulating understanding.

During exam prep, skipping practice on recalling older content led to uncertainty with DNA structure and cell biology definitions—a gap that lingered into test settings, where missed details cost marks.

Recent Achievements

One Plympton tutor noticed a real shift in a Year 10 student's approach to science: after weeks of struggling with ecosystem terminology, she now confidently defines key terms like "vestigial" and "homologous structures," even using scientific language.

In a recent session with a Year 8 student, the tutor observed her volunteering to read aloud—a big change from initial hesitancy—and tackling difficult words by sounding them out instead of skipping them.

Meanwhile, another high school student began identifying and correcting her own errors during chemistry calculations, showing new independence as she worked through moles and molar mass problems.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Even though Brendan only has Gennady for a short time, but I can see a great improvement in his maths, also he seem to be more confident.  The feedback I got from Brendan is Gennady was very easy to understand, he tend to explain thing in a simple way, we tried many tutors before and wasted so much of his time.  I definitely recommend him for VCE specialist maths.

I would like to thank you for providing a wonderful service to us.  We were recommended to you by a friend of my daughters and this being the first time we had sought a tutor, we weren't really sure what to do or how to go about it.  You made the whole process simple and easy for us.  Even though the initial tutor didn't relate to my daughter, there was no problem with us changing to another tutor.  This wonderful young woman was just the right person for my daughter.  They both understood each other and my daughter approached her year 12 maths exam with so much more certainty and knowledge.  We won't know for a while yet, the result of the exam but my daughter feels very confident about it.

WE are very happy with Jades work with Tanisha, Tanisha is very comfortable with Jade.  Tanisha has improved with her maths so far thanks to Jades help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Marion Mobile Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Plympton Primary School.
