I believe tutoring is important for students to identify specific issues that may present themselves. In a classroom environment, a teacher may not have the time to identify such problems where as tutoring can do so, especially for English and Mathematics. I believe I am a very enthusiastic and approachable person so students don't feel…

All my previous students have thanked me for teaching them the foundations, filling in any gaps before continuing on with new material. This gave them confidence in the subject and helped them achieve the highest grades in their academic career. It also provided them with an optimism to life, since if by doing well in school, they could see…

The most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is to help them understand what they themselves cannot. I believe it is a tutors job to also provide resources but the most important thing is to actually teach them what they cannot understand and once the tutor has done that then they can provide the adequate worksheets and past papers…

The most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is to be absolutely certain that his student really understand the topic which they explained and have no confusions or doubts in their mind. Be empathetic... Often students are going through a lot more than just school and/or sport, and sometimes tutors do not realise this when they're loading them with a lot of information. By being empathetic and patient that tutor is able to consider that needs of the student and alter sessions accordingly to ensure the greatest bang for the buck. I…

I believe the most important role of a maths tutor is to give the student a chance to learn according to their own skills. Whilst school classes are integral, often students may get lost or left behind as the curriculum advances. Without the individual attention of a tutor they may have lingering gaps in their education and understanding that go…

A tutor should provide a student with a platform to achieve the results they desire. A tutor should never let down his students but always encourage them through their journey together. Inside RegentvilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Olivia worked on multiplying and simplifying improper fractions, as well as converting between decimals, percentages, and fractions.

In Year 9, Jack focused on quadratic equations—solving and simplifying them—and practiced graphing parabolas using past exam questions.

For Year 12, Emily completed practice papers covering probability topics such as distinguishing independent from non-mutually exclusive events and reviewed statistics concepts including mode, median, and interquartile range.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student often arrived without a calculator and did not bring new topics from school, which limited the lesson's focus—one tutor noted, "never brings his calculator and refuses to bring new topics."

In Year 12 physics, a student struggled to provide content from class or identify specific challenges, making it difficult to address gaps before exams.

A Year 7 student needed reminders on previously covered maths content due to lack of home practice; this led to time spent reteaching instead of building new skills.

When homework or revision is incomplete, sessions stall and confidence dips.

Recent Achievements

In Year 11 Physics, Shivani had struggled with circular motion but now approaches related questions without hesitation and even explains her reasoning out loud—a big shift from when she'd avoid these problems.

Calvin, in Year 10 Maths, lifted his exam mark by about 30% since mid-term; he's also started tackling surface area problems independently instead of waiting for prompts.

Meanwhile, a younger student who used to rush through fraction work now double-checks answers before moving on and completed all assigned homework this week without reminders.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Venessa was great and we will be asking her to come back again in the new year.

Our daughter seems to respond well to Adam and even though it's still early days she is much more confident! Thanks

The tutoring sessions with Dominic are going very well. He has certainly helped Kailiana to gain confidence and skills in maths, while keeping a calm, friendly, and easy-going mood for the tutoring sessions. As any 8 year old does, Kailiana can get distracted from time to time, but Dominic has always taken this in stride, and been very creative in engaging with Kailiana in order to retain her attention. For example, there was one instance where she jumped up out of nowhere and decided to feed her goldfish in the middle of them trying to solve some questions about volume. Once she got back to the table Dominic asked her about her fish, and then changed the objects in the question they were solving to fish. He effectively got her back on track and engaged her attention in a warm and gentle way. Kailiana looks forward to her tutoring sessions, with is another testament to the good work Dominic has been doing with her.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Penrith City Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Regentville Public School.
