A tutor can drastically improve a student's confidence in a subject and in their own ability. I think this is really important as this confidence boost will enable them to approach many aspects of their life with less fear, leading to greater opportunities. Throughout my school career I've learned lots about how to study and learn, and I am really…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is giving them the ability to problem solve independently, so that s a tutor would not be needed in the future. Giving a student the ability to learn how to study is the perfect opportunity for that student to reach its full potential. Another key factor a tutor can bestow on a student is the…

The most important aspect of tutoring is making learning enjoyable! I achieve this though understanding unique learning patterns and teaching specific effective study habits and processes which reduce the stresses and anxiety which are all too commonly associated with exams and assignment deadlines. The most important a tutor can do is to boost a student's confidence. I am strictly against belittling students if they get things wrong.I favour praising each and every successful step kids take while studying. My strengths are- 1) I am extremely friendly and supportive which makes my students unafraid of sharing their questions and problems 2)…

First of all, communication is definitely vital in order to engage with tutees. Before any information exchange can take place, both parties should be able to relay their thoughts and express their opinions as clear as possible to avoid misconceptions. This skill is essential in the case of tutoring, as most of the knowledge exchange are only…

Inspire them. Anyone can regurgitate textbook material in a different way. But only few can truly educate and inspire their students to become the very best version of themselves. Some of the strengths that I believe are quite necessary for a tutor other than leadership are resilience, and the ability to properly analyse a students learning…

I think a tutor has a lot of power in empowering a student and making them love learning and love the subject. If a tutor can reorient a student's perspective of a certain topic and make the student learn it, it enables the student to engage more with the subject and hopefully increases their passion for learning and education in general which I…

I believe that as much as it is important to help the child improve and gain confidence, it is also important to build and maintain a tutor-student relationship. This enables students who don't tend to be open in class and speak up when they have questions to openly do so during tutoring sessions. This is something I have been able to achieve with…

One should be updated and prepared enough to answer their student’s questions. I believe that teacher should always motivate their students and this will help them to gain self-confidence. I believe that a tutor must guide the student to learn independently by introducing different methods and techniques to learn. This is because an hour or two of supervised study in a week is not sufficient to learn and excel in a subject. Further, in this modern world with ever expanding technology there are many avenues to study and learn the…

One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to provide them with support for their weakest strengths. Inside RobinaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Will practised telling time and worked on counting money and calculating appropriate change using real-life examples.

In Year 8, Will focused on multiplying and dividing negative numbers as well as applying BODMAS rules with negative integers, reviewing these skills through number line diagrams.

Jacob, a Year 11 Maths Methods student, tackled complex trigonometry problems involving the sine and cosine rule and applied these concepts to worded questions in preparation for his internal assessment.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student preparing for exams often left working out unclear, making it hard to track mistakes or justify solutions—especially in multi-step algebra and statistics tasks.

"He could improve on the formatting of his working out," a tutor noted after reviewing geometry problems.

In Year 12, another student relied heavily on the formula sheet but struggled to identify which formulas applied to unfamiliar exam questions, leading to slow starts and missed marks.

When homework revision was skipped due to assignments, understanding suffered; key strategies were forgotten during tests, leaving the student unsure where to begin challenging problems.

Recent Achievements

A Robina tutor noticed a big shift in Jacob, a senior student, who previously hesitated with normal inverse calculations on his calculator but now confidently rearranges the standard deviation formula to solve unknowns.

In Year 10, Will used to struggle with showing his working for integer problems, often skipping steps—now he lays out each stage clearly and checks his process.

Meanwhile, during a recent primary session, a younger student who was unsure about quarter past and quarter to times can now match them on both analog and digital clocks without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Robina Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Silkwood School - Robina Campus.
