I think the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is be supportive. All behaviour is belief driven, if a tutor convinces a pupil that he can do it, he will. I believe I am calm, patient, persevering, and supportive. Especially when it comes to perseverance, I will not be deterred if a student doesn't originally understand my explanations…

Improve the students confidence in their own abilities as learners and to instil in them the belief that they can achieve academic success. To question their understanding of what was covered in the lesson to help them remember the lesson. To be able to connect with students and gain their confidence and therefore be able to explain concepts to…

A tutor can guide students to achieve their goals, make them confident and sow seeds of morality and wisdom. At a young age, the values that a chemistry tutor can imply on a student are of paramount importance. I am highly passionate about teaching. Apart from that, I have strong communication skills and try to engage the students by making my…

Inspiring the student to think logically and teaching the methods instead of simply showing solutions. Strength: I have a solid understanding of fundamental theories, I am good at converting a solution into a logical sequence so that the students understand the method instead of simply memorizing it. Weakness: I sometimes overcomplicate the…

it is ver important to repeat the context in new ways which are unclear until its understandable for the student and mostly a chemistry tutor should be able to share there knowledge in such a maaner that the student would never forget the lesson learned in a particular day. My current strength as a tutor would be that I am a tutor who is also a…

Everything starts with guidance. Words are so powerful. So the main duty for a chemistry tutor is to give the key points to the student and make the student love the subject. So if you give the right guidance to the student they will be more courageous in the following courses. Because i was a honours student both in high school and university, i…

Be a friend. This is how I was taught by my tutors and this is how I taught as well. If there is a deeper bond than that of just a student and teacher, the student really shines. The students open up more to the teacher. This helps the teacher to plan on how to help the student. I can understand what the student needs. I can connect with the…

A tutor should identify the students' areas of weakness and focus on helping the students gain knowledge in these areas rather than teaching the student what they already know. I consider the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to be fully committed to them while fully giving the student their attention while teaching. The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is to enable a student with essential skills, both related to subject taught, as well as life skills. Inside RockdaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Sasha worked through measurement questions from her textbook, focusing on calculating area and converting between units; she also completed a worksheet for homework support.

For Year 11, Jay tackled practice quiz problems on networks, rates, and ratios directly aligned with the standard mathematics syllabus.

Meanwhile, Year 5 student Ava practiced reading aloud and writing in English before moving on to adding and subtracting fractions as well as being introduced to Roman numerals.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student in Mathematics struggled to retain and apply network theory definitions, as noted: "it was just something that needed drilling—he didn't fully grasp the need for repetition." This led to difficulties when tackling unfamiliar problems, with reliance on prompts rather than independent recall.

In Year 9, one student avoided writing down working in area and perimeter tasks, sometimes erasing attempts instead of leaving a visible trail—making it harder to trace logic or learn from mistakes.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student tended to hyper-focus on irrelevant details during challenging surface area questions, sidestepping the main task and losing confidence mid-way.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Rockdale noticed a high school student who used to quietly follow instructions now catching calculation errors on his own and even pointing them out before the tutor, showing real engagement during rates and ratios work.

Another high schooler, after previously skipping written steps in maths, has begun writing down her working without reminders and even talks through her process out loud—especially useful when tackling algebraic questions she once found tricky.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who struggled with mixed numerals picked up the concept quickly this week and chose to attempt extra practice questions independently before asking for help.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Louisa is very pleased with Stella. She is a very conscientious and capable tutor. Thank you!

Dianna has been happy so far with Amy's approach, methodology and personality. It's a bit early to expect any result with regards to her improvement. I'm sure with Amy's help, Dianna will be able to boost her confidence before the high school.

Ezymath made it very easy to sign up, get progress reports and find a great tutor. We were very happy with our tutor and would use the service again if we needed a maths tutor.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Bayside Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Mary and St Mina's Coptic Orthodox College, Rockdale campus.
