I think the most important role a tutor has for their students is to provide them with confidence, being able to walk into an exam room confident in your abilities and knowledge is one of the biggest challenges. By helping students be confident it will not only immensely help them in exam rooms, but help them pave a pathway for themselves outside…

Being able to formulate different approaches on the go is something a tutor should be able to do in order for the students to understand at their own pace. A tutor should also be patient in order to make the student feel welcomed whenever they are in a predicament academically. Other than that, a tutor should be friendly so the students feel…

To promote effective learning and bolster a student's academic progress, a tutor should consider the following actions: 1. Develop personalized teaching plans tailored to each student's learning foundations and pace. 2. Demonstrate enough patience and kindness, offering positive reinforcement and celebrating their accomplishments. 3. Ensure…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is collaboration. Being able to communicate, preparing early on and mapping out what the students require is essential to being a good tutor. I think my strength as a tutor would be due to my experience of doing the HSC and due to my flexibility as a student in the University of Sydney,…

A tutor can provide many important services for a student, such as providing guidance and support, helping with understanding complex concepts, providing feedback and resources, and offering regular check-ins. Tutors can also help students develop a deeper understanding of material and help them become more confident in their abilities. I believe…

The most important thing I have gathered from my own mentoring and tutoring experience is independence and accountabililty for students. I believe that as a tutor, being able to improve a students understanding and knowledge on a subject is a key sub section, but assisting the student in self motivating, doing more than what may be necessary and…

A tutor has the opportunity to shape a students' mind, in more ways than one. Therefore, the most important thing a tutor can do is to make the best use of this opportunity and let the student discover the best version of themselves. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is highlight their strengths as a learner. I don't want students to think they need a tutor because they need help and feel badly about their current academic performance. I want students to have control over their learning when it comes to choices, activities, and material. Students should…

I think for a tutor it's being able to be contacted even after lesson hours. As for maths, it's very difficult to find solutions online and last minute stress before an exam is not good, so I think being available to be contacted and being flexible is the most important thing for a tutor. I like to make the classes interactive and fun to keep…

A tutor can clearly identify the strengths and weaknesses of students and guide them accordingly. He should focus on the strengths and minimise their weaknesses. This is very important as it gives a clear direction to the students. This can also help them realise what career path would be good for them. A tutor should also be able to help students…

Zane is finally grasping concepts that he always found confusing in class. Alan has been very patient with Zane, as there is quite a bit of work to do. Zane would not have received this personal time in class, due to time, disruptions etc.. Thank goodness we are starting now before NAPLAN in 2 weeks and highschool in 2019.

Inside South CoogeeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Isla worked on fractions and telling time using Mathletics activities, with extra practice on word problems.

Year 10 student Dharsshen tackled a challenging essay question focused on structuring arguments and refining thesis statements, as well as reviewing his completed essay for clarity and coherence.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Amira prepared for her HSC English exam by revising thesis development and practicing short-answer responses worth 20 marks to strengthen analytical skills.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 English student, under pressure from school commitments, began "rushing his work," which led to persistent errors in grammar and punctuation.

In creative writing for Year 8, a reluctance to add detail meant stories lacked vivid description—one tutor observed missing commas where new sentences should have started, making the writing harder to follow.

A Year 5 student struggled with homework page formatting; unclear layouts made it difficult to identify main points or corrections.

In poetry revision for Year 10, another avoided reviewing unfamiliar texts, risking gaps in exam readiness by focusing only on preferred material.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in South Coogee noticed that a Year 10 student, Dharsshen, who used to struggle with structuring essays, now independently spots argument flaws and recently incorporated teacher feedback for the first time.

In Year 11 English, Mohit moved from vague thesis statements to writing a much stronger argument and even achieved a notable 16/20 on an essay—he previously lost more marks due to unclear structure.

Meanwhile, Miyah (Year 4) shifted from guessing answers in maths to using pen-and-paper strategies and talking through her process out loud until she found the right solution herself.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I have greatly enjoyed my time that I have spent as a tutor for Ezy Math Tutoring, and a large reason for this have been the structures they provide for tutoring sessions and the way they equip tutors through training. It lays a solid foundation for tutors and students who may be unsure about the art of tutoring and allows both parties to hit the ground running and utilise sessions efficiently. I would recommend them to potential tutors and clients in a heartbeat.

Alex was happy with the initial session and they have their second session this weekend.   She was able to obtain an immediate improvement from her interaction with Phillip as he worked on actual tasks with her.

Thanks for your email.  Our decision to discontinue the tutoring was not due to any dissatisfaction - quite the opposite.  My daughter only had a few sessions with her tutor, and in that time gained a huge amount of confidence in her abilities.  The tutor was able to reassure her that she wasn't as bad at maths as she believed.  This new-found confidence enabled my daughter to discuss openly with her teacher the difficulties she was having, and get some extra help at school.  Since then, she has performed markedly better in her assignments and tests. Natasha is an excellent tutor and I would highly recommend your company to anyone experiencing difficulty with Maths. Thanks for the follow up and for all your help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lionel Bowen Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like South Coogee Public School.
