The most important I as a maths tutor can do is to accept that each student has a different way of learning and I should adapt and blend their teaching methods according to the student, there's no one size fits all method for everyone. I completed my schooling and bachelor's in engineering (Computer Science) from India and the education system in…

Encouraging their student to do their best is one of the most important thing a maths tutor can do, even if the student may not get the right answer. The most important thing is to not diminish their interest in the subject despite their difficulties in understanding them. Another important thing is to communicate well with the student and…

The most important thing a maths tutor can do is being able to explain a concept in a manner which a student can understand. Along with this, I think it is important for a tutor to empower their students, give them confidence, help them reach their goals and improve. Also, to be understanding, patient and flexible with your teaching method, as…

I believe the most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is to tailor their teaching approach to meet the individual needs of each student. For example, I work with a student who has mild ADHD and struggled with maintaining focus. To address this, I incorporated short physical activities, such as star jumps, into our sessions every 15…

I think that helping a student find summarising and working methods that suit their personal academic strengths and weaknesses is very valuable. Don’t pressure the student to “hurry upâ€Â as it causes stress to the student. I believe that with the correct teaching approach of being a maths tutor and someone who they can relate to, it makes them more confident to ask questions and air out their frustrations. A tutor is not just only someone who's there to help with homework questions, but more importantly questions outside the classroom. This was something I cherished as a student as I didn't have any role models who could tell me what exam techniques are the best for someone like me or what life is like after HSC, and so on! It's about building a…

To me there are two certain parts of tutoring that must be successfully applied by the tutor in order to satisfy the needs of the student. Firstly, the tutor must be professional in manner and make sure he gives off good positive vibes towards the student, but he must also be strict enough that they will have constructive lessons together.…

The most important things a maths tutor can do for a student is how they act towards the student. Not everyone can be a tutor although they have the same information, the same marks at school or university. Encourage and motivate. Second and third only to giving them complete guidance. Showing them how they can get there and that they are completely able. As a tutor I believe you should never give up. The most important thing a tutor has to do in my opinion, is to quickly gain a very in-depth profile of their students' strengths and weaknesses, general skill level, and approach to studying, so the tutor is able to help them more effectively and focus on the areas that needs to be focused on which will vary from student to student. I think my…

Tiffany is currently tutoring my son and daughter. The process of setting up the sessions was quick and efficient. She has always been on time, committed and focused during the sessions. The children have found her to be friendly and approachable and have really found the three lessons so far to be extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend EzyMaths.

Inside SydenhamTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Emma worked through angle properties for parallel lines and used diagrams to explore alternate, corresponding, and cointerior angles.

In Year 9, Alex focused on trigonometric ratios and their applications, as well as reinforcing index laws with practice problems.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Lucas tackled standard differentiation techniques including the quotient rule, applying these skills to textbook exercises and real exam questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Chemistry, one student relied on entering chemical equations straight into the calculator rather than writing them out—this habit led to repeated errors in balancing equations and missed marks.

For a Year 9 Maths student, index laws were an ongoing challenge; as a tutor noted, "he tended to skip showing working when applying index rules," making it hard to catch mistakes early.

Meanwhile, a senior student's proof-writing in Maths lacked clear formatting, so their logical steps weren't always obvious. In these moments, accuracy suffered and corrections took longer than needed.

Recent Achievements

One Sydenham tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student who used to freeze when tackling simultaneous equations; now, she's able to set up the equations and choose between substitution or elimination without prompting.

In another session, a Year 11 student who struggled with linking rates to differential equations is finally making those connections on his own, confidently talking through each step.

Meanwhile, a younger student in Year 6 recently began identifying like terms independently and multiplying coefficients—last term he'd wait for hints before trying. Last week, he asked the tutor for extra practice problems on fractions.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I consider improvements in Maths Test results as my biggest accomplishments while working for EzyMath Tutoring. Whether it be by 10, 20, or 50% improvements it is vital that students strive to a higher standard in both their effort and application to the subject. Students should have goals that are realistic of what they want to achieve in Mathematics. Small goals make a big difference in the overall success in this subject. Whether it be to get a 50% pass mark in the next Mathematics Assessment is much better than getting 43%.  I came to work for the company mainly for the tutoring experience. I have a high school teaching background so it was important for me to branch out into different areas and have a look at more 1 to 1 tutoring which can help develop further my high school teaching career. Tutoring has taught me different teaching strategies that I can implement into the classroom. The Learning Modules in particular was a great resource in reaffirming some of my initial ideas and concepts that I had with the subject. It is a great tool for both tutors and students to be able to understand the complexities in Mathematics and its differentiation from other subjects such as English, History and Science.  I would highly recommend this tutoring company to anyone willing to invest money into making improvements in Mathematics learning. The website is comprehensive and has alot of great resources for both tutors, students, and anyone interested in the subject. The worksheets are a great addition which I have found useful, and would be great use for teachers in the classroom. Overall it has been a positive experience. I believe that we can never stop learning as educators, and it is great to see good people investing alot of time and energy into making teaching and learning in Mathematics more fun, engaging, and innovative.

Being a tutor at Ezy Tutoring was a great experience. I was able to gain confidence in my ability to help students improve their skills and my ability to help them gain confidence.

Working with ezymath tutoring has made me learn a lot about management in general. The working and organizing of the entire organisation proves the efficiency of ezymath. As a tutor, everyday was a learning experience. I grew with the students in so many ways of understanding, analysing, learning and believing that each of my students could achieve their goal. Ezymath has always been a constant support. Gene especially has been very understanding during my term as a tutor. The striking quality of this organisation was the flexibility, the management never interfered in the weekly organisation of the tutorials and was completely left up to the tutor and student's availability. Ezymath also puts in great effort by monitoring the progress of not just the students but tutor's as well. Every fortnight is monitored with feedbacks and different learning modules benefiting both the tutor and student. Finally, it's a great place for tutors and students. Both their needs are catered to with much understanding. Had a great time working.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as St Peters / Sydenham Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Tempe High School.
