The most important things a maths tutor can do for a student involve making the student understand the concepts at a deep level, rather than tutoring them solely for the purpose of achieving higher grades. I believe a good tutor should remove the fear of a subject, if any, from a student's mind and encourage them to learn in more detail, while…

the most important things that a maths tutor can do is enhancing creativities, and building logic to solve the problem. because sometimes, a tutor can improve students' grade but by teaching tricks to solve math problem, not by enhancing creativities. trying to improve solving problem logic and increase creativities can take longer time but once…

I think it is very important to create an environment where the child has fun and therefore likes the time learning and learns better. For my strengths as a tutor I would say that I can explain problems in a very simple way. As I am a very structured person it is not so hard for me explain to children in a logic and understandable way. Also, as I…

Empathy is one of the most underrated quality that a maths tutor must have in them. A student may take time to understand a new concept and have millions of questions regarding the same, but the teacher needs to understand that it's their first time grasping this concept and they might not capture it as fast and easily as the tutor or other…

The most important thing is to be able to understand how each student have different styles of learning and as a teacher we should adopt with each child's differences and be flexible to our teaching methods. Other thing is, in order for students to absorb information clearly, the environment of the class should be positive and enthusiastic. -…

The most important thing a maths tutor can do for a student is to make the student realize the value of the subject or the topic they are learning. It should come as no shock, later on in their life, when they are put in a situation where they can use the knowledge they have learned to achieve a certain objective. I believe that I have the…

I believe that a maths tutor plays a huge part in a student's life. They can make a difference in a positive way by not only supporting but inspiring them to become a useful member of society. A tutor should understand each of their students individually, find their positive points and help to capitalize on them. Also, finding out their weak…

Inside Sydney Olympic ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student completed a Maths Olympiad worksheet and workbook activities focusing on addition and subtraction with two- to four-digit numbers, as well as starting multiplication with larger numbers.

Year 9 student Alyssa tackled direct variation in linear relationships and practiced rearranging formulas for simple interest calculations using real-life examples.

For Year 12, David worked through differentiation techniques including the product and quotient rules, and was introduced to inverse trigonometric functions such as arcsin(x) and arccos(x).

Recent Challenges

A Year 3 student often hesitated when writing out division steps, preferring to "do it in his mind," which led to misaligned digits and confusion about which number belonged above the line—"he needs to write every step," noted one tutor.

In Year 11 Mathematics, a student avoided writing full working for induction proofs and struggled with linking nk and nk+1, causing repeated errors in logical progression.

Meanwhile, a Year 12 student's revision focused only on familiar trigonometric formulas, leaving gaps when tackling exam questions that required lesser-known identities or domains. This resulted in uncertainty during multi-step problems and slowed progress under time pressure.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Sydney Olympic Park noticed that one Year 11 student who previously hesitated to ask for clarification now regularly voices questions about tricky derivatives, especially when working with inverse trigonometric functions—a real shift from staying silent and guessing.

In another high school session, a student managed to identify the critical path in a complex network diagram after struggling to visualise connections just weeks ago.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who often made errors with subtraction recently completed an entire quiz on addition and subtraction without a single mistake and even tackled some harder problems by choice.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

All good so far, both Will and I are very happy with Ben. He is good value. Highly recommend him.

Our tutor is Anthony. We have found his interaction with our son Benn has proven very rewarding. Benn has taken to Anthony and sees him as a mentor as well as a tutor. He has only praise and admiration for Anthony. At our discussions with Benn  after each tutorial Benn has a renewed interest and passion for Math. Anthony and Benn seem to have similar interests in physics and sciences which I think helps. He is also providing and encouraging Benn with his confidence not just in math but in all things. I would like to offer our satisfaction and praise in Anthony's professionalism and he is a testimonial to your business

My son Ezra obtained an ATAR of 95.85 and was granted his first preference , Commerce and Mechatronics Engg. at Monash University. He obtained  a study score of 43 in Physics and 37 in Maths Methods. We are  grateful to your company for willing to send a suitable Maths and Physics tutor even after term 1, after we realised that that Ezra was having difficulty in Maths Methods. Your tutor was extremely patient , always on time and Ezra was able to discuss difficult concepts with him. We would definitely recommend your company to others.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lidcombe Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Newington Public School.
