Engineering Studies Tutor Thornlands, QLD
A tutor must be able to get the student to their goal without the tutor doing the work however instead mentoring the student to get there. This platform will enable the student to apply for future studies such as uni. Another important thing is time management and work ethic the tutor must teach to the student to enable the greatest amount of…

Engineering Studies Tutor Thornlands, QLD
Tutors fill a different role than teachers and parents, and that puts them in a unique position to support students. Personal relationships are foundational to student success, the more connected a student feels to his or her tutor, the more the tutor creates trust and respect, essential ingredients for students to learn well. When a tutor listens…

Engineering Studies Tutor Victoria Point, QLD
The most crucial role of a tutor is to assist students in acquiring the ability to develop their own problem-solving skills. This empowers them to independently navigate through challenges without the ongoing need for external guidance, as they develop the necessary skills to tackle problems on their own. My strengths lie in my capacity to adapt…

Inside ThornlandsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Olivia practised converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages as well as calculating simple interest using real-world money examples.

In Year 9, James worked through solving simultaneous linear equations and explored applications of the Pythagoras Theorem with step-by-step problem breakdowns.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Mia focused on calculus by applying the first principle of differentiation to functions and also tackled trigonometric equations involving radians and the unit circle.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Maths Methods, a student relied heavily on calculator shortcuts when practicing trigonometric angles and struggled to communicate their process clearly; as noted, "Needs more practice with quadrants and finding the angle's value in each of those quadrants."

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student often guessed subtraction answers instead of writing out working steps, which led to repeated confusion with multi-step problems.

In Year 3 English, avoidance of assigned reading homework slowed vocabulary growth—writing tasks lacked variety and structure as a result.

The moment a problem was skipped or rushed, small errors quietly compounded in later topics.

Recent Achievements

One Thornlands tutor noticed a real shift with a Year 11 student who, after weeks of struggling, could replicate max/min calculus problems accurately and explain each step without prompting.

Another high schooler showed genuine progress in algebra: previously confused by polynomials and piecewise functions, she now draws graphs independently and tackles quadratic questions with a clear method.

In primary, Lily—who used to rush through pattern tasks—now pauses to check her work and solves patterns for 2s and 3s with less help than before. Last week, she completed an entire contractions worksheet confidently on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

After spending two years as a tutor with Ezy Math Tutoring I can only report positive experiences with the agency. Ezy Math was always professional, timely and willing to help with any queries or problems. Working with such a personalized and helpful company only enriched the already fulfilling experience of being a tutor. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Ezy Math Tutoring to any prospective tutors or students.

I am very happy with Fiona, and though we are only in the early stages of tutoring, Alyssa has made significant improvements in her attitude and confidence. Initially she was dreading tutoring, now she has embraced it. Fiona has been extremely flexible and has impressed with her professionalism and knowledge from day one. We look forward to continued success under her tuition.

Rhett has been by a couple of times now and has been extremely professional, with a very standard of teaching.  As you know, we had worries that Abbey was going to fail the last SAC of the term. However, after spending two sessions with Rhett, I am pleased to say she came home with a B.  She is enjoying her sessions and is getting a lot out of them.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Victoria Point Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bay View State School.
