The most important thing that a tutor can provide for a student is support and motivation. When a student is struggling, they have low self-efficacy and motivation to engage with the subject. What is important is to use this knowledge to provide tutoring in a way that is relaxed and engaging. In addition the tutor should always value and strive to…

Making sure that the learning content is tailored to the needs of the child. Children with special needs require extra support and compassion. I would also say that it’s important for the tutor to be patient and listen to the child. I have some background in teaching and dealing with children, and I’m quite easy to get along with. I have only…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to take the time to understand what aspect of their learning is causing them difficulty, and to address it. The tutor should act like a robust bridge between the student and knowledge. He/she should guide the student in achieving erudition by showing the correct path. Tutors should also try to develop interest in students for subjects and it should not be confined to the prescribed curriculum. On the other hand it is prerogative for the tutor to realize…

Therefore, students would understand on a personal level the sort of challenges that a student might…

I think the best thing a tutor can do for their students is show that they are interested in them as individuals. Inside TingalpaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Lily practiced solving exponential and logarithmic equations, including population worded problems and graphing transformations of log and cubic functions.

Year 12 student Ethan focused on matrix operations such as addition, scalar multiplication, and solving systems of equations using matrices, plus compound interest calculations with real-life examples.

For Year 10, Olivia worked through arithmetic and geometric sequences—finding sums, evaluating terms from tables, and tackling worded questions linking sequences to everyday contexts.

Recent Challenges

Several students across Years 7–12 showed challenges transforming worded problems into mathematical form.

For example, a Year 9 student "became confused when extracting pertinent information from questions," only finding clarity after drawing a diagram.

In Year 11, one student hesitated to commit to answers, often voicing solutions as questions—this uncertainty slowed progress in algebra and trig proofs.

Another senior struggled with organization: "Needs textbook, homework, and worksheets ready for each session," leading to lost time searching for materials instead of working on advanced calculus tasks.

A younger student avoided recording working during problem-solving, which hid where misunderstandings occurred and made feedback less effective.

Recent Achievements

A Tingalpa tutor recently noticed a Year 11 student who used to freeze up at complex log problems now tackles multi-step equations without a calculator, even pointing out when the change of base rule saves time.

Another high schooler who was previously hesitant to ask for help in trigonometry is now comfortable voicing confusion right away, leading to clearer understanding of ambiguous cases in trig equations.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who struggled with multiplication tables has started multiplying by powers of ten and confidently uses strategies for tackling the 12-times table, finishing all practice questions independently this week.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Rhett has been by a couple of times now and has been extremely professional, with a very standard of teaching.  As you know, we had worries that Abbey was going to fail the last SAC of the term. However, after spending two sessions with Rhett, I am pleased to say she came home with a B.  She is enjoying her sessions and is getting a lot out of them.

I came to work with Ezymath because it looked like a reputable company and I was interested in tutoring maths. I feel overall like my time with my students has been a great improvement in their learning ability and my teaching ability. Ezymath was good to work with and also accommodating, I would recommend Ezymath to both other tutors and prospective clients.

Darren is very patient and kindly spoken and Julia is really enjoying her tutoring experience with him.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Carindale Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Tingalpa State School.
