What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy working with kids and I will be continuing that when I finish university (to become an OT). I also love watching the person finally understand what they are learning, no matter how many times I need to explain it.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have patience, so I don't mind explaining something multiple times. I also love it when the student asks me questions, even for the smallest things. I love sharing my knowledge.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Helping them complete their work is part of the job. However, the most important thing is making sure students are relaxed. If they are getting overwhelmed they shouldn't be pushed because then it'll make them feel like they can't do it. So tackling their weaknesses at a realistic pace will help them not feel pressured to understand straight away. Then when they realise they can do it they relax because they know it's the same thing their teacher is teaching them but they have been explained it in a different way that helped them understand.

Lila was confident when asking questions about things she didn't understand. She was initially getting confused with how to get 'x by itself' but when I tried to explain it a different way and break down the steps into separate lines of working she was understanding it better. She is able to apply the x and division negative rules and get correct answers too.
- remember opposites '+ undoes -' and vice versa & 'x undoes division' and vice versa - try to spread your working out beyond one line, it'll make it easier when you have multistep questions. Not an improvement but... Lila requested for more problem solving stuff with algebra. I will bring them next session. However, I think we still need to do some of the basic things because she seems to forget how things work between sessions (completely understandable since it was first day of school).

- just remember if it is (x-2)^2 it is going to be x-2 for each bracket you need to expand (i.e: (x-2)(x-2)

- was able to multiply fractions together without errors - after practice Lila was able to add and subtract fractions without mistakes (it was just the initial misconception that you can add and subtract without the denominators being the same)
- keep practicing the "expected working" for the algebra section in your book - it'll help you with high school
- was able to solve all the problems that we worked on together (refer to improvements)

- Simplifying algebraic fractions: to help further simplify the answer to the textbooks answers - recognising algebraic equivalent fractions: for same effect as above - careful with division make sure you minus the indices
