What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Helping students that are in the same position that I was in, I find there a lack of guidance in the school system and I think that is something I can provide to students.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I tend to be quite a patient person by nature, and am good with children and young people. I think as a young person myself I have quite a good understanding of the students position and can create a good connection with them.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think a lot of the more important parts of tutoring is involved in the study technique and supporting students to find the motivation in themselves to study and do the work. Being the person that has got their back. Although of course the specific content they are learning is important as well. In addition a lot of students struggle with traditional teaching styles and so being able to teach with different methods is also vital to enable to student to learn to the best of their abilities.

Jackson's question interpretation is clearly getting better. He can answer the vast majority of the questions without any major assistance. In order to answer the questions correctly we went over P/P techniques these included underlining the data needed and circling the key term/verb (e.g. explain, identify etc.) This clearly helped Jackson as he has previously struggled with question interpretation and missing certain sections of the questions. For example, a question might ask him to calculate the angle but he misses that sections in the questions and when he looks at the diagram he might start by finding the side. This technique very clearly helped Jackson as seen in the fact that he required significantly less assistance in answering the question correctly.
There are still some minor gaps present, this is most likely due to a lack of practice. Jackson would significantly benefit from more homework and study throughout the holiday period. It is not so much that Jackson cannot figure out the question eventually as he knows the content and can figure it out eventually but with more practice Jackson will be able to answer the question without as much thought. Saving him more time for the more difficult questions. Overall however Jackson is still progressing well and we are continuing to do practice questions/test and review over minor knowledge gaps.

Chloe was very willing to learn same as last week. She had attempted her homework to a high degree and had completed the vast majority of the questions, leaving only the ones she didn't understand. Her understanding of answering questions has improved since last week meaning by the end she was able to start and complete the questions by herself without any exterior assistance. Demonstrating this with T/A and P/P.
Chloe knowledge still has gaps however her ability to answer algebraic questions by herself has significantly improved. She is effectively applying techniques we have been through such as separating like terms. She is still having trouble answering some questions and needs assistance albeit less than before.

Jackson clearly remembered quite a bit from the Non-Right-Angled Trigonometry section. He quickly got a grasp of the majority of the concepts he did especially well with the Sine rule and its application. His interpretation of questions is getting better as well. Better applying P/P to draw triangle diagrams for worded questions. The memory triggers and hooks for the formulas were also applied well. I was glad to see that Jackson was trying not to look at his formula sheet for the formulas and remembering by himself.
Jackson still needs assistance with interpreting questions at times and how to apply certain formulas and which ones to use. These are things we will work on over the next month to two months until HSC Trials. This will allow jackson to practice switching from one type of question to the other quickly. In addition this will also allow us to easily identify areas which he is still lacking in, and catch up on them.

Chloe was very willing and happy to learn, she was able to stay focused and critically think through each question. Her notes from school were very well taken with colour coding and dating as well. Her organisational skills were much better than usual for her age group. She was easily able to grasp the concept of P/P and applied it thoroughly.
There are quite a few gaps in Chloe's knowledge, word questions and their interpretation also proved to be difficult. However, once she had the concept explained to her and she understood them properly she was quickly able to complete the associated questions. Next week we will be covering further algebra applications as well as Equations.
