What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Seeing progress within students and them come and leave tutoring sessions with a smile. I also enjoy the moment when a student is able to accurately approach a question without any help, because then you know he/she actually understands what is being taught.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am lighthearted and very patient when it comes to younger children, but strict when it's necessary. Coming from an all boys school, I understand the challenges of tutoring teenagers, especially boys, and I know what to say to try get them more engaged and interested. Otherwise, I'm really an all rounder, I'm into sports, cooking, shows, so I can always incorporate that into my tutoring sessions to maintain engagement.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Try make tutoring fun, students no matter how hard you try will not retain information and be willing to learn if they are really against it. So by presenting the content in a fun but still effective manner, it is bound to show results. The most important thing when it comes to content is to not spoon feed them with the right answers, you need to let them think and as a tutor you guide them in the right direction, this and additional study habits that are beneficial to them in the future.

About Congqiang

About me!

I grew up on the Gold Coast, Queensland and at the start of this year I took the risk and moved down to Melbourne to study and gain some new perspective. It has been amazing living in this city so far and I cannot wait to start helping out the community whenever I can, and this includes Tutoring! I have a year of informal experience tutoring younger year levels back on the Gold Coast as well as being a tennis coach. And through those two avenues I have already a general understanding of what being a mentor/tutor actually entails.

Interests and Hobbies

I'm really into a variety of sports, whether its NRL, NBA, tennis, F1, basically everything except for AFL (Queenslander). I also did debating in high school and really enjoyed playing chess. I actively participate in various charitable causes and love doing volunteering work. Other then that I try enjoy my life and just try do as much as possible. I feel like I will be able to deeply connect and work with any student and a be positive mentor in their life.

What am I Studying?

I am currently a first year student undertaking a Bachelor of Biomedicine, so my key strengths would be in the science and mathematics field. I am also currently undertaking a Sports Coaching subject, where I will shortly be attaining a "Community Coaching Essential Skills" Certificate from the ASC, where some of the teaching can be easily transferred into one on one tutoring.
