What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the opportunity to help students with concepts that I struggled with myself. It feels incredibly rewarding to be able to support students the same way that I was supported in my learning journey. I feel as though it is my way of giving back to the community and inspiring a love of learning in my students, hoping that they will also share that passion with other learners.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My prior experience with handling school life, and the study content is one of my greatest strengths, as it allows me to create a comfortable environment for students where they feel like they can thrive with the help of someone who understands them. Additionally, as an engineering student, I have a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and their real world applications, which has become one of my key strengths as a tutor. I have found that students love to see the practical applications of the math that they are learning, which makes the content more meaningful for them.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think that structure and predictability is the most important thing a tutor can do, as it is easier for students to know what to expect in class, and future lessons. Having organised lesson plans not only ensures that all key topics are covered, but also allows students to focus more on the material itself rather than wondering what will come next. I prefer to guide students through each topic at a comfortable pace, reinforcing their understanding as we go. Predictability in the structure of lessons also helps students build a sense of routine, which can lead to deeper comprehension.

Maymunah easily grasped simple algebra, and was able to solve the first few conceptual algebra questions. She also had a good understanding of geometry, and the different types of triangles.
Maymunah should work on completing more practice questions relating to simple algebra, and work on long multiplication so that she can solve more complicated questions.
Maymunah knew the concepts of Force, and the different types of contact and non contact forces. She also greatly improved her understanding on buoyancy.

Maymunah should ensure that the homework I give her should be completed on time. She could also read up more on independent and dependent variables in a scientific experiment, so she can identify them correctly.
Maymunah was great at recalling Chapter 5 - states of matter, and could also draw simple shapes on the cartesian plane.

Maymunah can benefit from completing some extra work for math, and extend her knowledge on rotation and symmetry about the cartesian plane. (Homework was given by me)

Maymunah was accurately able to describe complicated concepts like the reason for weather change due to Earth's rotation, and why the weather is generally temperate around the equator.
While her general understanding is excellent, Maymunah would benefit from using complex vocabulary to better explain concepts. For example, instead of saying the Earth revolves around the Sun in an oval shape, she can say that the Earth completes one revolution in an elliptical shape.
